10 Things Americans Waste Money On

Featured Replies

I get around them to........don't use them. I have NEVER once used an ATM machine, and to this day have no idea what my PIN is for my Debit Card.

I don't own a Debit Card. I use either cash or checks, mostly checks. I do own a credit card but don't use it often and do pay the balance each month.

Same here.

Now, I find myself daydreaming about the surprising ways we can be generous with others who aren't doing as well.

We were just talking about how we can't wait until the day we can walk up to the school, the church, the shelter, the free clinic with the checkbook and say, "How much do you need?"

"Live like no one else so that someday you can GIVE like no one else."

Having seen your cell phone I'm not shocked at this.

Psychology is a good word for it. What I like most about his plan of building wealth are the WHY's of it. It's partially about enjoying the benefits and pleasures of wealth' date=' but it's also about being a great giver. We started the plan and all I could think of was expensive toys and luxuries that would one day be ours. I think Americans waste more money on cars than anything else.[/quote']

I did the math on my current car costs including car payment, gas and insurance. I could save just over 600 a month if not owning a car and taking the bus every where were a realistic option .

Agreed but I choose not to wait. I buy tickets from churches for nice events and have them give them to someone who normally couldn't afford to attend. I'm now working on a scholarship at my alma mater in the name of a deceased classmate.

While others get benefit, selfishly it's very rewarding.

Appetizers are really the only thing I'm guilty on, but that is somewhat rare.

If I could get my girlfriend to stop drinking Starbucks, I'd be thrilled.

I buy apps (I also eat insane amounts of food for someone my size), I have an Amazon prime account so speedy shipping is included, and I have premium cable that I use constantly.

Booze

Cigars

Coffee

Newspaper

Cable TV- hate Time Warner and such a waste of money. If it werent for sports and my 7 yr old it would be gone and I would live off Netflix and Hulu.

Cut those out and my life just got a lot more boring. All okay to me in moderation...the newspaper is about to get the boot for good this time though. We have a Keuric machine and my wife buys Starbuck grounds and we brew at home but I have been a sucker and paid $4.50 for a Mocha now and then.

I think this is probably aimed at people who either struggle with the money or youngsters who are still trying to get started.

Yeah, I know. Actually, my oldest son used his method to get back on track, my 2nd son has never spent an unnessary penny in his life. He goes to extremes, he refuses to turn the heat on until New Year's Day, I swear. Now my daughter, she needs a lot of help, God bless her.

That's why you hope the daughter has the good sense to marry correctly. The boys need to fend for themselves.

She did and he's trying to get her on the right track, but it won't be easy. How well I know. Love her but man, she doesn't make it easy sometimes:)

Said Scarlett O'Hara.

Ramsey can't watch Thursday night football. His rabbit ears won't pick it up. Ramsey, isn't that a condom? At least those aren't on the list. I hate lists like these. And financial advisers are nothing more than people who could have been from my grandparents generation. They could have made a list similar to that 50 years ago, sans the royalties from a book.
