Apparently, he has impressed some people with his knowledge. Although, all you have to do is impress the right people for that to be public knowledge.

Good assistants learn from prior manager's rights and wrongs. If Price is that good with pitcher's I think he's smart enough to understand what works and what doesn't.

I can completely see him going all in with a manager (like TLR) for year or two then start the process over again. Guys like Ausmus and Price are good potential hires but will have learning curve. A guy like TLR you cut that out. Plus the connection of Walt and Tony... Very interesting.
