Any routine ground ball hit to him, he will play the ball as slowly as possible, smile at the guy running to first and then lob it to first just hard enough to get the guy out. That is "swag" in BP world. On the last out in the Reds game vs. Pittsburgh, it was a ground ball to second. Walker hustled in front of the ball, set himself to throw and fired the ball to first. Neil Walker also had 53 RBI's and can't cover near as much ground on D. #swag

Ya go for the range factor and make the same mistake most do when talking about range. You realize that just because a player doesnt dive as much, doesnt flip a ball between his legs, etc etc doesnt mean he doesnt have range. It usually means he has more range or is quicker to the ball and doesnt have to always compensate by making the great play.

You guys rallying around his RBI total as to why he's such a great player are probably the same ones that judge a pitcher by their win-loss record. :lol2:

truth and camel ... I am with you on Phillips as to player productivity. The Reds will not be able to replace him defensively or offensively. But baseball is played between the ears. I think the way Phillips plays negatively impacts every other player in my clubhouse. That is the reason I think they should move him.

 

Also, I agree with you camel on Phillips with the fans. He is probably the best on the team in fan interaction. I still feel he needs to be moved if you want to take the Reds to playoff wins not playoff appearances.

Or it means they can't get to the ball in the hole.

Dustin Pedroia had 11 more AB's than Phillips with Runners on base. He had 19 fewer rbi's, he must be awful.

 

Pedroia pretty much does everything offensively better than Phillips. RBI is one of the more meaningless stats in baseball.

I respect your decision for wanting him moved. I had the issue with, a few bgp posters minimizing his playing ability.
