I went to High School with Teri Polo (the wife from the "Meet the Fockers" movies and many other movies). And yes she was way hot in high school, and far, far out of my league. Played with and against Delino Deshields in high school (in 3 sports). I was a college teammate (and very good friends )with current Cardinals hitting coach and former major leaguer John Mabry. Played against a ton of other Major Leaguers, too many to list. The Philadelphia Eagles used to hold training camp where I went to college, and got to rub elbows with lots of those guys. Mike Golic is one of the coolest pro athletes I ever met. Even got to hang with Jim Mcmahon when he was with the Eagles (who I have a really cool, sordid story about how NFL teams cover up players transgressions).

New Years morning around 1:20 a.m. we were at the Stage in Nashville on the upper deck by the alley entrance listening to the band and Dierks Bentley who had just been the opening act to a New Years Concert we had just been to came in. He hung out on the upper level where we were for about an hour drinking and talking to everyone then went down and got on stage with the band a sang with them until the place closed. He was pretty cool and was talking to everyone until everyone downstairs realized he was there and they started bugging the crap out of him, so he went to the stage and started singing. That was pretty cool, he was a very nice dude and just hung out up there with us and a group of less than 20 people.

 

The Colts used to have Training Camp in Anderson IN when I was the Walmart Store Manager there. RB Albert Bentley was in the store all of the time, he was dating one of the cashiers at the store that was also a model. I used to give him crap because his Techmo guy wasn't as good as Bo!

Met Bill Clinton a few years back when he was campaigning for what's-her-name.

 

Favorite story - my son's girlfriend's (at the time) brother played basketball for Temple. They played Louisville in the NIT quarters at Freedom Hall (the famous "Ice Capades game" where the floor was so slick). After the game, girlfriend's brother asked us if we would like to meet Coach Chaney. He probably talked with us for 10 minutes about just about everything; not just basketball. As we were getting ready to leave, I told Coach that it wasn't every day that I got to meet a HOF coach, and asked if he would sign something. He asked if I had a Sharpie. I didn't, so he got one of his players to get one, then proceeded to sign all four of our tickets. Laid-back guy, one hundred and eighty degrees out from his on-court persona.

 

Lots of other little meetings with ball players at card shows, Broadway actors and actresses, etc. over the years, but that one stands out.

Met Robert Morgan (Memphis Belle) and Paul Tibbetts (Enola Gay). Other than that, just a bunch of the usual local sports celebrities and local TV personalities. I won't even claim Chris Collinsworth, even though I've known his brother-in-law since 3rd grade. I think that's about it.

 

Oh, and George Clooney is a second cousin. My mom worked in the offices at NKU and used to see and talk to him all the time.

As a very young boy I got to share an elevator ride and the Owensboro Executive Inn with Col. Harland Sanders. Meet my long time idol Don Mattingly,but it was at an autograph signing session at Casio Aztar, so not sure if that counts. While in college I waited tables at Rafferty's in Evansville. One night Vince Gill came in just out of the blue, wasn't even preforming in town. I didn't wait on him but got to bring him a refill of Coke. My personal highlight was that I had the pleasure of waiting on Mr. & Mrs. Wildcat one Sunday afternoon. Not sure what brought him to town, I was probably the only person who knew who he was. His rings looked really nice up close.

I played in a pickup game with Roderick Rhodes, Walter McCarty, Tony Delk, Jared Prickett and Wayne Turner. I stole the ball from Wayne Turner. He sucks.

 

I was in New Orleans in 93 when the Final Four was there. The College 3 Point Shootout and Dunk Contest was at Tulane and me and 2 of my friends were hanging out outside of the arena when Clem Haskins and his wife walked up. Clem knew my parents when he was at WKU and he recognized me and we had normal small talk for a second. He then asked if we were going in and I said no, we're broke college students. He laughed and told us to come with him and he got us in. Awesome moment for me that night.

 

I beat up Mike Tyson in a street fight. He was running that lip. Knocked him out cold. Left hook. He didn't want none.

Split my head open, falling off a chair while trying to sneak a peek at Elvis at the Polynesian Culture Center on Oahu in April 1977. They took me to the first aid room to clean the wound and see if I would need stitches and about 10 minutes later, Elvis came in there to wait for his limousine to be brought around. He was leaving because his arrival had so disrupted the performance that he felt bad. He asked what happened to me and I felt horrible for being part of the disturbance. My mother had no such guilt or remorse because she was positively gushing and asking him to sign random crap like medical tape. He looked horrible and sad, and when he passed away a few months later, I never forgot that he couldn't enjoy his night out because of idiots like me. I have never paid attention to celeb citings since then.

If they played for the Bengals from 2006-2010, very good chance, I've met them. A few Reds players (BP, Bruce, Votto, Stubbs, Cueto). Met Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.

 

Had a couple minute conversation with Mike Terico and Tony Kornheiser a few years back after a Bengals game.

 

My good buddy has an uncle that lives out in Arizona. When he was about 7 or 8, he was with his uncle at Scottsdale (he was a member), and a guy asked if he could join their group. It was Phil Mickelson.

About what I expected for a seven year-old. Lots of life experiences ahead.

I used to "roll" (practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu) w/ Rich Franklin before he ever stepped foot in a cage and was just a school teacher with a dream. I remember him telling me that he was going to fight in Indiana in a few months in the hopes that it would lead to the UFC or Pride. I laughed it off, Rich got the last laugh. Never been happier for a person.
