August 26, 201313 yr ^ That's FKYW chugging along in the bike lane. The arrow is pointing right at him. What is he chugging?
August 26, 201313 yr This is something else I was wondering. And Bug or FKYT can answer...did you take a week's vacation after completing this? Or at least a few days? I would think you'd have to, wouldn't you? The problem for us extreme fitness people is that you believe you will lose it if you do not return to action. I took off 6 days and thought I was going to lose it... all we have known for the months leading up to an IM is to train. I ran 6 miles the week following and was beat. While physically I recovered in 3-4 days, anatomically it takes weeks to fully recover. It also helps coming from a marathon background because your body is more apt to recovering from intense events. FKY will be sore as they come. After mine the following day I was getting around fine.
August 27, 201313 yr To use an already worn out phrase, "Ain't nobody got time for that". FKY does. And he did. And he will probably do it again.
August 27, 201313 yr Best. Feeling. Ever. That photo is awesome. I was standing up top but to the left of where this photo was taken. I have a cool video of the last three minutes of the night I will try and post tomorrow.
August 27, 201313 yr FKY-what was the first thing you ate after burning 13,000 calories? #fatjasonquestion
August 27, 201313 yr FKY-what was the first thing you ate after burning 13,000 calories? #fatjasonquestion I can't speak for him but you generally do not feel like eating all that much. I grabbed a few pretzels and a gatorade the first half hour following. Then had a couple slices of cheese pizza and walked back to the condo. My wife grabbed me a couple of Junior Bacon cheeseburgers that I ate a couple hours after the race and that was it for me. Only thing I remember is that I was incredibly loopy until I went to bed that night but still wired. I did not go to sleep until 1:30 in the morning... and of course I was up at 6:00 the next day ready to go. It normally takes me 90 minutes before I feel like eating. While you burn a lot you still took in a lot of junk through the day.
August 27, 201313 yr Does anybody know how many people weren't able to finish in the allowed time? That's what I'd like to know too.
