The Official "Good Luck FKY" Thread

Featured Replies

The clock starts at 7:00 a.m. His time did not begin until he jumped in the water. The chip and clock tines are different. Based upon when he got out of the water he jumped in the river around 7:23 (I think). So check 23 minutes later.
Okay.

12 minutes left to finish. It's rowdy down here.

Whoa. Congrats dude! That's a hell of an accomplishment.

How long does it take one to recover from an Ironman?

Varies, but they say it generally takes about a month. Thing is I wasn't that sore the day after mine, you just have no energy with any physical activity for a while. I remember I ran 6 miles 1 week after mine and I felt like crap.

Good grief.

Mad respect for you guys. Wow.

He has been racing for over 13 and a half hours now!

Wow unreal. I needed a nap after my round of golf today.

So did he qualify for Hawaii?

They do the qualifying in an interesting fashion. For marathons you are given a time you have to finish before, according to your age, to qualify for the Boston Marathon. In IM they take the top 10% from your age group to qualify for Kona. For my age group in FL a couple years back (25-29, M) the time was like 10:30. That is crazy stupid.

Bug, this may be an impossible question to answer, but...if some normal Joe made it a goal to compete in the Ironman, how long would the training take? Let's say he or she is in average shape.

Also, I'm assuming the competitors have to finish in a certain amount of time?

For you personally, what was the most difficult portion--swimming, biking, or running?

I'm beyond fascinated by this. I was telling my wife about you & Timberlake today. She just ran her first 5k & I explained to her what all is involved in the Ironman.

I got to see him at mile 10 of the run. He was looking gassed....but it looks like now he's finished. AWESOME!!!!!!

Yea, sorry man. The hit got me bad and I was on like mile 7 of some serious cramping issues.

For those who are friends with him on Facebook....I just posted a picture of him from my vantage point (mile 10 of the run....124.5 miles into the Ironman). I'll let him post it on here.

Post away my man!

YOU'RE. AN. IRONMAN!

Welcome to the club, fellow Ironmaner!

Thank you man. I hurt like I've never hurt before but it's a damn good club to be a part of.

Well' date=' I had to leave because I have to get up at 4am tomorrow. To my knowledge FKY is still running. If anyone gets the result, please post it! I am inspired by FKY! You rock![/quote']

Sorry I missed you. Thanks so much for coming down!

We should see him cross the finish line in about 20 minutes or so. Just look for the guy with the backup dancers and entourage.

:lol2: :lol2:

Thanks for the updates!

Well' date=' I'm not sure there was another participant who had more followers, albeit by proxy.[/quote']

And I'm VERY thankful. Means a lot guys

I think this is him coming into the finish line area. Can one of you witnesses verify this sighting for us?
