13-yo beaten by 3 15yo boys on bus, while driver watches

Featured Replies

Oh yea, good interpitation. COME ON MAN! If you are in a job that supervises and takes care of kids, you can not just let them fight it out...if you stand and watch you can be held liable, take it as you want..... the guy watched for 4 minutes on the film would not be hard to justify at all. You always talk about your kid, what if that was him getting beat down and the adult was just chilling.

I still wouldn't blame the bus driver. I would blame the 3 punks, and I would be planning their demise.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'd be planning on it, then doing it, then relocating to the neighborhood where you and Rat reside.

Do not blame them, but the ball was dropped by them.

The bus driver?

I'm just saying. You seem bent on blaming the school employee. I'm trying to figure out the difference. Both are instances where the school employees do what they are trained to do. But in this instance it is the bus driver's fault.

If it was my kid and the bus driver was a 64 year old man I'm still not blaming the bus driver.

I do wonder if the school even thought about them being on the same bus? And who knows, they could have gotten on his bus either way. Or is that something I missed in this thread?

I put more blame on the school for allowing these punks to get on the same bus with the kid that just ratted them out earlier in the day.

I thought we were smart enough on here to realize that 100% of the blame for the start of the situation is on the 3 kids that jumped the one kid. That goes without saying...at least I thought it did. No one is giving them a pass. However, that doesn't mean there couldn't have been steps to avoid or diminish the situation.

I agree about the school putting those kids on the bus together, too. Not smart.

Those are the ones who get all of the blame IMO. Those 3 punks. I also agree about the school not being pro-active in regards to the 13 year old's safety.

I am not blaming him for what happened, but I do not find him honorable, or in the right, by standing there watching that, along with anyone else standing in the immediate area. I think it was my first day of Sunday school that I heard the story of the good samaritan.

From a legal, educational standpoint. From someone who both lives, works, and trains others in that area, you are to intervene to protect children as a school employee.

I would as well. However, I learned a long time ago if I hold the world to my standards then I may as well never leave the house as I'll be disappointed every 5 minutes.

Humm, maybe that's why I'm so happy all the time...my standards are so low they are CONSTANTLY being excided every time I turn around.:sssh:

But the other students aren't just as guilty? All the shame falls on Grandpa? Even when I was a kid we kept the fights fair. There is a whole bus load of kids that did nothing but Grandpa is at fault for following training? Maybe you should be mad at the folks who trained Grandpa and not Grandpa.

Totally agree. My wife is a teacher, younger kids, and they fight. The teachers take a LOT of risk upon themselves if they break up a fight. Don't blame the teachers, the bus driver, etc. who want to do the right thing...blame our civil rights attorneys, our judges and our juries who have lost most of their common sense.

If I was Grandpa, I would have at least taken 1 of them out of the situation. But I'm not mad he didn't. Just saying what I would have done.
