August 7, 201313 yr I'm still amazed that one of the issues is the bus driver. I hope they take those 3 kids off the streets for a considerable amount of time. Wont happen, the kids that beat the cincy man, who later died, got book reports as punishment.
August 7, 201313 yr The longer I think about it, I'd "profile" these kids (because of their actions if it happened to mine, not their skin color). I'd follow them, learn their patterns. Wait until I caught them one by one, no matter how long it took, and I'd give them similar treatment. Yep, I said it.
August 7, 201313 yr School bus fight: Driver won't face negligence charges - CSMonitor.com Authorities initially sought a child neglect charge against the driver. He stopped the bus and called for help. But the teens were gone when police arrived. Moody's attorney, Frank McDermott, told The Tampa Bay Times thaat his client stopped the bus and radioed for help, per school district policy. He said a charge of child neglect never should have been considered. "It was preposterous," McDermott said. "I don't think law enforcement should ever tell citizens to intervene in a violent attack. John did what he was trained to do."
August 7, 201313 yr Not a race issue unless the kids say it was, I think just punks beating up,a kid for something. Still they are cowards for ganging up on him. That man and the rest of them punks are cowards, I do not care what anyone says, if you are involved in kids and the education system you are morally obligated to intervene and protect children.
August 7, 201313 yr Wont happen, the kids that beat the cincy man, who later died, got book reports as punishment. That's a shame. Wow.

If he hadn't done anything at all I'd agree with you. He did what he was trained to do. I can't fault him for his actions. It's a shame he had to witness it and now has to defend himself. 64 years old? I can't call him a coward.

August 7, 201313 yr He's 64. Do you really think he'd have been able to do anything? They'd have whipped him too. There 15 year old skinny punks, in his 64 years somewhere he learned to man up I'm sure.
August 7, 201313 yr I would've laid on the kid and taken the beating or lawsuit. Sack up old man or get a bus monitor.
August 7, 201313 yr There 15 year old skinny punks, in his 64 years somewhere he learned to man up I'm sure. I know how my body feels at 39. I can't imagine how it feels at 64.
August 7, 201313 yr I would've laid on the kid and taken the beating or lawsuit. Sack up old man or get a bus monitor. I would have probably laid on the kid as well. I'm not going to begrudge the 64 year old man for doing what he is trained to do.
August 7, 201313 yr I would have probably laid on the kid as well. I'm not going to begrudge the 64 year old man for doing what he is trained to do. You don't have to. I will. The first part of training is to pull over and call the police. I'd like to see the part of the manual that states you can sit there and watch a kid get beat silly by three other students. Even if it is in there, fire me. There comes a point in time that instincts take over, regardless of training. The lack of instinct to intervene is mind-boggling to me. A straight up fight is one thing. An ambush is totally different.
August 7, 201313 yr So for all the folks upset with Grandpa for stopping the bus and calling the cops you would rather see him stop the bus and get beat up by the 15 year old punks? Is that correct?

There is a whole bus load of kids that did nothing but Grandpa is at fault for following training? Maybe you should be mad at the folks who trained Grandpa and not Grandpa.

Bus Driver gets involved in the incident, one of the 3 boys laying punches, jumps into the drivers seat, drives the bus, crashes the bus, it flips over, fire, multiple kids hurt, killed, all because the driver got involved. There is a reason the drivers are to alert authorities of the issue and maintain control of the bus.
