July 14, 201313 yr Well, how he said, "He looks black." That's telling me he is not certain. It's not until Martin walked up to Zimmerman's vehicle that he could say with any certainty whether he was black for sure. What are we doing here? He knew he was black. That part shouldn't even be debated. He said "he looks black." Do you think he picked up the phone before his brain determined "he looks black?" Come on. This is a given. Again, it's WHY the defense put the white mom on the stand. What other reason could she be up there? She didn't say Trayvon broke into her house. She didn't say she had seen Trayvon with the two black males that robbed her. What other reason? None. She was there to justify the call.
July 14, 201313 yr What sickens me is how most people are shooting down the fact that race absolutely played in part in this. As I said race got it started. IMO it did not play a part in the verdict.
July 14, 201313 yr Unless you are black my advice is for all of you non blacks to leave race out of it at this point. You're only fanning the flames and furthering alienating yourself to the black members of this board. You'll never understand their struggle. You'll never understand their pain. You'll never understand their emotions regarding some of the asinine things I have seen on the board this morning. None of you would have the balls to say any of that crap to a random black stranger so don't act like you would on here. Two families are forever changed and right now blacks are angry and confused. Having to listen to non blacks who don't understand has to be frustrating. Why add to the frustration if you truly want to get past racial issues? If you really want to end the division between blacks and whites be sympathetic and listen to what they are saying instead of being so damn defensive. We'll never advance as a society. Ever.
July 14, 201313 yr No it isn't. Would I do what Zimmerman did, no but that doesn't make it a crime. If bad decision making and judgement were a crime there would be no one outside of jails. So what is a crime? If he truly feared for his life, he could've stayed in his vehicle or drove off and fled the situation, which is what someone referenced trayvon should've done. Your excusing the fact that a grown man got out of his vehicle and shot and killed with the intent to harm a child. How would you feel if a strange vehicle and man were following your child as he/she was leaving the store heading home?
July 14, 201313 yr As I said race got it started. IMO it did not play a part in the verdict. Absolutely got it started and even continued it. But most are ignoring this and painting blacks as being biased towards blacks which is what is sickening.

But what is overlooked is when he says that we have to take into account the events leading up to this event. Its not isolated, its a broader picture than just a Zimmerman phone call to 911 reporting a black male acting suspiciously. Not trying to really argue...cause I think we are saying the same thing just in two differing languages.

July 14, 201313 yr I'm not understanding when walking home became suspicious. Because AT-there were robberies in the area committed by young black men. Also did you forget what innocent Travon called GZ when talking to his girlfriend? See that is racist talk, but it is okay because a black guy said it?
July 14, 201313 yr I'm not understanding when walking home became suspicious. GZ said that a person was behaving suspiciously, stumbling about. Probably on drugs or something along those words. And, Trayvon didn't walk home. He came back to confront GZ. He should have gone home..he'd a been safe and alive today. He made a bad mistake and so did GZ. There is no denying that if he'd of stayed in his vehicle that TM would be alive. Two bad choices by both individuals. No law was broken by either, both were in their legal right to be where they were. We will never know every single detail.
July 14, 201313 yr Absolutely got it started and even continued it. But most are ignoring this and painting blacks as being biased towards blacks which is what is sickening. Exactly. Which is why it bothers me when some white people just don't get it. They become just as guilty as soon as they open their mouths.

See that is racist talk, but it is okay because a black guy said it? Not excusing that at all. But your "because statement" is racial profiling if you didn't know. But because he was being followed and made a racial slur about his stalker, he deserved to be killed? Am I understanding this right?

He was in the process of "walking home" when he began to be stalked by Zimmerman. No matter how you look at it, Zimmerman is the aggressor here, which is what is being ignored.
July 14, 201313 yr Exactly. Which is why it bothers me when some white people just don't get it. They become just as guilty as soon as they open their mouths. It's bothering me as well, but I'm attempting to temper my feelings and thoughts to stay as civilized as possible. And what's even more disturbing is the white people who don't want to get it, or even care to get it, but if roles were reversed they would totally understand.
July 14, 201313 yr Not excusing that at all. But your "because statement" is racial profiling if you didn't know. But because he was being followed and made a racial slur about his stalker, he deserved to be killed? Am I understanding this right? I am admitting that Travon was racially profiled by GZ. (The lawyers wouldn't) Just as Travon racially categorized GZ in his comments to his girlfriend. (The lawyers wouldn't) Never once did I say Travon deserved to be killed because he was black. It is a tragic situation. He was killed, not because he was black, but because GZ thought Travon was going to kill him. Hence GZ was found to be acting in self defense.
