You are playing against an aging Spurs' squad whose best player is hurt. This is only a 2-1 deficit and they still have the much better talent. June 14, 201313 yr I don't really think that his legacy will be affected for me. Whether he wins another four rings or losing in another four finals, in my mind his legacy is that he can't get it done without other superstars.

Nobody did it without other superstars. It you look at all the great teams and players that won titles you'll see that a large majority of them were surrounded by at least one other HoF, All Star, All NBA player. All of them.
June 14, 201313 yr Question. Lebron finally won a title last year. This season is arguably his finest season as a pro. If the Heat lose this season in the Finals it will be the third time Lebron hasn't won a title while making it to the Finals. MJ never lost 3. Hell, MJ never lost in the Finals. Kobe has only lost twice in the Finals in his 7 trips to the Finals. Does that diminish Lebron's legacy if the Heat don't win the title this year? I think it will. It will and that's why I'm hoping it doesn't happen. I don't know if Miami peaked too early this season or what, but the team that has played the last two or three series' isn't the same team that was killing people all year. Lebron has to win this one, can't drop to 1 of 4 in the Finals, just can't do it....

I was specific with my word superstars...focusing on the s at the end, not another superstar. If he won titles with just Bosh, I think it would have been much better for his legacy. Playing along side Bosh and Wade sealed it for me. Just my opinion. It hurt his legacy potential.

June 14, 201313 yr We've seen glimpses of his killer instinct but he definitely doesn't have it 24/7 like Kobe and Mike do and for me that is a problem. He should be in Game 6 in Boston mode every playoff game IMO. You just put the cheese on the cracker there my friend.

Given today's talent being spread amongst more teams, I am not sure you can draw a direct parallel between those you mentioned. Jordan would be the closest and I will never believe that Pippen was as good as his reputation... at least not on the level on Dwayne Wade. I think people forget how good Wade is. When healthy and rolling I think he is the most devastating player in the NBA. Every person thinks of the Chris Bosh of today, but the dude is still All Pro caliber and averaged 24 and 11 the season before coming to South Beach. That is impressive. Magic had Kareem at the end of his career but that was Magic's show but I will give you that one. Bird, some solid talent but not on the Dwayne Wade level. In the 80s there were also about 10 less teams so the opposition theoretically should have been better. I think he is saying teaming up with two all pro caliber players his unheard of. Especially when you are already considered the best.

If the Heat come back and win the series - which I still think will happen since they have home court advantage - Wade will be MVP if he continues his play. Fair or not, people will never believe that it is truly LeBron's team if other guys are having to carry the team to a title via a final's MVP.

I just don't see anybody on the Heat winning MVP other than LeBron if they win it all. Wade would have to score 40 the next two games and LeBron 20 or less for that to even be possible. JMO, of course.
