I don't, I think his defence is what truly separates him from other great players and scorers.

 

I agree. Jordan was the biggest competitor that I have seen play, in any sport. He done what it took both ways to prove no one was as good as him. He wanted you to know he was going to not only drop 40 on you, but lock down your best player as well.

Many felt James was prematurely crowned as the greatest ever when he had accomplished so little beyond personal accolades that did not amount to much. That view was shared by many within the NBA world as well. People always say LeBron has critics. And he does, a lot of which is probably unfair. But I have always felt he has been given a lot of latitude and excusing for some of his deficiencies. Well before they were highlighted in the '11 Finals.

There was a lot of outrage from NBA players when Jordan came into the league too. The first Air Jordans were a big problem for a lot of players and fans as at that point he had not accomplished much other than Rookie of the Year. If Jordan had played during this media age the criticism of him for not even being able to get to the finals would have been crushing. It took MJ 7 seasons to reach the finals and he was heavily criticized back then as a player that wasn't a "Team" player that just got his numbers each night. Then he wins 3 in a row and all his forgiven. IMO MJ is either the best or second best player in history (I go back and forth between he and Wilt), but it wasn't always rosy for him along the way.

PP said that when he was proven to be a winner he would surpass them both, so I was wondering that without considering winning does he think LeBron is the better basketball player. Maybe I should have asked is he the best based on skill and what he can do?

Yes. He does things physically neither could do. Check the stats. Too bad he doesn't have their mentality. He'd be the greatest ever without question. His mentality is what separates him from Kobe and MJ. He never had to work to win. He showed up and won. He never learned how to earn victories. He is the poster boy for the Entitled Generation. Kobe and MJ both had to work hard to earn their places on the mountain. They'd murder a teammate to get to the top if that is what it would take. Lebron would rather crack jokes and make his teammates feel good about themself instead of stabbing them in the throat if they cost him a victory.

I do think the image shows more than how great MJ was but it does cement his case as greatest ever. I do think the fact that Kobe shared time with Shaq accumulating those stats and that Lebron shared his time with Daniel Gibson needs to be taken into account also. Stats only tell part of the story. I think we all know MJ was the greatest ever. I was actually surprised at some Kobe's stats. I would have figured they would have been lower than what they were.

And he adds to the legacy. History in the making? Stay tuned.....
