June 21, 201313 yr It is tough to put Kobe and LeBron in for a "first 10 year" comparison since they were both fresh out of high school. Larry had 4 years of college ball and Jordan had 3 under Dean Smith. and somehow Jordan was able to get past that and succeed :lol2: Kobe vs James 10 years isn't a fair comparison? I guess maybe not since Kobe won 3 rings and played several seasons with the most dominant player in the league...but Kobe still get credit for the rings Shaq won for him. LeBron played most of his first 7 seasons with a pick-up team from the local Y and did have to carry the team on his own. I'll admit it that I bought into the hype that James was far behind MJ and Kobe. Well he is behind MJ but when you look at the numbers with clear eyes you see that in very few ways is Kobe demonstrably better.
June 21, 201313 yr Again, what does he expect? If the reporters weren't there, he'd be talking about how they disrespected his team not showing them the love they deserved. You can't have it both ways. Being criticized and being in the media spot light, both positively and negatively is part of it. Btw, in case you missed it, I said I don't really have a problem with his comments. But I do realize that comments like that are why people dislike him. Yeah I did miss what you said. But I just feel that no matter what he says or does he ends up getting criticized, I get tired of the media beating on him or any player over and over.

June 21, 201313 yr like i said jordan 6 for 6 in NBA finals 6 FINALS MVPs. I'll take his performance in any finals series over lebron's without question. Now with Bill Russell, there is a reason they name the finals MVP trophy the Bill Russell Finals MVP award. Bill Russell got the main concept of basketball when he first started playing, that basketball is a TEAM sport. Something that took jordan 7 years to understand. That's why Russell can have both hands up and it still wouldn't be enough to show how many rings he has. Plus i'm a celtics fan so i'm a little bias in saying I take russell by a bit over jordan. I take it you'll agree then that Jordan is nowhere near Bill Russel's level?

MJ's teams were the best followed by Kobe's and then Lebron's. I'd take the 2008-2010 Laker champs over the last 2 Heat champs. June 21, 201313 yr Check this out...Player Comparison Finder | Basketball-Reference.com Stats are for first 10 seasons for each player...Larry Legend may need to be in the discussion of the best ever looking at these numbers. Kobe is 3rd or 4th in nearly every category when looking at career and playoff per game averages and Larry is in the top 2 in most of them. Not surprisingly Jordan is tops in most categories. Bird is actually #1 in season and playoff defensive rating...that shocked me!!! Pretty neat find again. :thumb: But am I reading this right? Says Lebron has 1020 3's made, to Birds 455, Kobe's 799 and MJ's 303. I know this isn't everyones entire career, just around a 9-10 year snippet, but still in any time frame I would have figured Kobe and Jordan with more. I realize 3pt stripe wasn't always around so that would hurt Bird, but blew my mind to see that.

It's close but I don't know that the Lakers would have been stubborn enough to pound Miami inside. It would really be decided by Miami's small lineups vs LA's big lineups. I don't think those Laker teams were physical enough or good enough defensively to prevent Miami from running their offense the way tha Indiana and San Antonio did.

Lakers have the better players without even thinking about it.

Neither team matches up well with the other because of style. If the Lakers would ride Bynum I'd pick them, but you know they wouldn't do that. That's the only true advantage they'd have and I don't think they'd use it. Miami's bench is better. A lot better.

Miami doesn't have a better bench. :lol: I'd take the bench of that Lakers team over last years Heat and this years Heat team. Problem with the Heats bench is that it was rarely used outside of Allen and Cole. Haslem went plenty without playing, Andersen did okay, Cole was hit and miss, Allen is a shell of himself this year, Lewis barely even played this year. The bench was weak. I'd take Odom, Barnes, and whoever else over that bench.

June 22, 201313 yr Author And Odom didn't start. I know. You're helping to make my point. Which makes the Lakers bench better because Bosh isn't better than Odom was at that time period IMO.
