May 18, 201313 yr The trick is to get ALL businesses to pay their fair share. We have a winner folks. Those that whine the loudest are probably doing something or have done something that they should not be. Plenty of years experience in the field to know when something smells.
May 18, 201313 yr You're right. Change 'fair share' to 'something' in that post. Works for individuals also.
May 18, 201313 yr Beyond 501©4s... Give $1M to Romney....get a visit. Meet Frank VanderSloot: Big Romney donor, big IRS target Three federal agency audits in four months? There must have been pretty serious issues prompting that kind of attention from the federal government. But there weren’t. VanderSloot passed all the audits with flying colors. It cost him $80,000 to pay attorneys and accountants to handle the many issues the audits presented, and when it was all said and done he had been hassled but couldn’t be found to have done anything wrong at all.

VanderSloot is a billionaire. I suspect the IRS audits every U.S. billionaire.
May 18, 201313 yr Where is Geithner's name in all this? IRS is under Treasury. Treasury is run by Timothy Geithner. Is mentioning his name verboten? No, but I'm waiting to see the investigation that ties him to it. Jack Lew runs Treasury now.
May 18, 201313 yr VanderSloot is a billionaire. I suspect the IRS audits every U.S. billionaire. He says in 30 years he has had one audit previous. Then 3 in a short time. And nothing found. The IRS screens based on the likelihood of finding more taxes. And they hate to waste their time if no money will be found. They struck out not just once but three times here. VanderSloot was a very high profile donor to Romney. His actions caused him to be publicly smeared by the current administration. From May 2012: CEO Frank VanderSloot Fights Back Against Obama Campaign and Defends His Romney Donation By Writing Another Check | Fox News Insider He explained that after the Obama campaign discovered his donation, they posted it on a campaign funded website along with others who they called out for having “less than reputable records.” Eric Bolling from Fox's 'The Five' tells a story that is chilling. Agents just showed up at his door asking his wife where he is. That is an interesting way to start an 'an audit'.
May 18, 201313 yr No, but I'm waiting to see the investigation that ties him to it. Jack Lew runs Treasury now. Thanks, I had forgotten that Lew took over. It seems either or both of their names should be more 'out there' in this scandal.
May 18, 201313 yr VanderSloot is a billionaire. I suspect the IRS audits every U.S. billionaire. Honest to God what world do you live in.
May 18, 201313 yr Targeting people because of their beliefs is the IRS' job? News to everyone except you. No you are correct about that , but making sure that the Tax laws as written about 501© 4 as pertaining toward groups seeking to attain tax exempt status are correctly followed is the IRS' job . No matter what their ideology is . It sounds as if the Tea Party groups want a free pass in this matter and that is not acceptable .

Why in the world do you put more trust in Govt than individual, private citizens?
May 18, 201313 yr Honest to God what world do you live in. Duh. Who would you audit if you were the IRS? A billionaire or someone who drives an 11-year-old Corolla? I am continuously amazed by the limited world view of those who get their news from Fox and Friends.

I am continuously amazed by the limited world view of those who get their news from Fox and Friends. I'm amazed that you think someone that drives an 11 year old Corolla is any more honest or dishonest than a billionaire. Why is it that some on the Left, such as yourself, seem to dislike the wealthy? There are many, many wealthy Dems. Is your dislike as equal for them as they are the "Evil Wealthy" on the Right?
May 18, 201313 yr Why in the world do you put more trust in Govt than individual, private citizens? Because I'm not a cynic .

Why is it that some on the Left, such as yourself, seem to dislike the wealthy? There are many, many wealthy Dems. Is your dislike as equal for them as they are the "Evil Wealthy" on the Right? I don't DISLIKE the wealthy....but you know that skepticism conservatives have when talking about people who are on welfare? You know...that everyone is lazy and abusing the system and the system should be abolished? Walk, I feel a lot of wealthy people abuse the system, hiding assets or taking undue advantage of loopholes. Conservatives think the poor are dishonest....Liberals think the wealthy are dishonest.
May 18, 201313 yr Why in the world do you put more trust in Govt than individual, private citizens? You left out Big Business. Do I trust Uncle Sam more than Corporate America? Yes. That's a no-brainer. As an aside, google billionaire Frank VanderSloot, the "victim" in BlueGrassCard's narrative of IRS bullying. The term "pyramid scheme" is found in some stories. Do you think that perhaps this is why the IRS investigated his 1040 as opposed to his Romney donations?
