April 30, 201511 yr It seems like if Brown was really concerned with attending an Adidas school than Kansas would be the front runner. Every picture I've ever seen posted of him thru social media has him sporting Nike shoes and clothing. His high school team wore Nike as well. The only time I've ever seen him where Adidas is when he's with his AAU team. I'm not sure if the brand affiliation is really a factor and he has been quoted as saying how much he loves Kentucky. I've convinced myself he's going to Kentucky * Edit*. I didn't realize Brown has family in Michigan and his cousin actually attends Michigan. That certainly helps their chances. Browns mom attended Michigan St so hopefully momma Brown will keep him away from the Maize and Blue. Edited April 30, 201511 yr by nkufan23
April 30, 201511 yr Next year they do? Yes, UK's class for 2015, the players coming in next season, is ranked #3 in the nation. It was #2 behind just Arizona till Duke landed Ingram (he's the last one that just signed with Duke, right?). Also, note that UK is the only school that has two top 10 ranked players signed. If by some miracle Jaylen Brown (ranked #3 in 2015 class) picks UK, UK most likely will have the #1 ranked class in the nation.
April 30, 201511 yr Author Any word on when Brown will announce? Any word on any walk on and who they are and something about them?
April 30, 201511 yr Huh? Whiff on everybody? UK has the #3 class in the nation. No kidding he has the best player in the class. People are impossible
April 30, 201511 yr Jonny David from Pittsburgh area has committed as a walk-on. Dad played at Pitt when Calipari was an assistant. Had some D1 looks, and was all-state PA. Calipari taps hometown connection to start replenishing Kentucky's walk-on ranks | Basketball recruiting | Kentucky.com
April 30, 201511 yr If UK lands Brown then it is an instant top 3 team and National Champioship contender. Without they'll be a top 10 team still and hopefully peak in March. If Brown commits then UK will have the best front court in the nation again and maybe the top 2 picks in the draft. Also the different options of personnel on the floor would be awesome. Either way UK will be fine
April 30, 201511 yr Even with Brown UK would still need another big IMO. Between Poythress, Lee, and Skal, what more do you need?
April 30, 201511 yr If, UK lands Brown, it's almost the exact same roster makeup of the 2012 team depth wise. You'll have a solid top 5 with essentially Darius Miller 2.0 in Mulder. A big off the bench. And Matthews who could be the same kind of role Wiltjer was. Show up for 10 minutes a game and shoot the ball. I got to stop getting ahead of myself cause that thought is making me excited
April 30, 201511 yr Even with Brown UK would still need another big IMO. There isn't another one out there that can fill the actual need. Not having a guy that can get deep position and score with power is the hole that can't be filled. Skal, Lee, Poythress and Willis is a high quality college front line. It just isn't one with a guy you can run back to the basket post plays for regularly when you need a bucket...

Skal is good, but he isn't even remotely close to Davis. having a generational great made the 2012 team elite. That won't be the case next season no matter how hard you try to convince yourself otherwise...

I'd argue the bench might be better though.
April 30, 201511 yr Obviously you are right in that regard. I was more comparing the rotation. I'd argue the bench might be better though. I'd argue you are doing everything possible to sell yourself that missing on every elite spring recruit is a minor deal. IF they can get Brown we can revisit, but right now this roster couldn't hold the 2012 teams sweaty jock...

I was saying with Brown this team could be like 2012...
