I realize they went elsewhere. I'd percieve that as an issue for the Red Devils and quite frankly the league. Sorry, I took it to mean that the number of kids playing was down everywhere. I was making the point that those kids were still playing, just playing for a different organization.

I realize they went elsewhere. I'd percieve that as an issue for the Red Devils and quite frankly the league. I don't know that numbers are down across the NKYFL. Off the top of my head, I'd say yes. It seems many teams are struggling to field teams at all levels. But it also seems like each team I've seen has at least one really large age group. As a whole it seems the Peewee and Senior divisions are the ones struggling the most with numbers. The senior division I get, because middle school football now seems to be the league of choice (although numbers there seem to be down with a couple of teams....of course it's not hard to come down from 70+ kids on a team, and some of those teams now have a 7th grade and an 8th grade team).

September 2, 201313 yr Much ado about something Pi.....you dont lose that many kids and say Much ado about nothing. I guess I also dont see Dale or Brian Weinrich smiling and saying Much ado about nothing. I would be concerned, especially when several kids not playing are excellent athletes and could be huge contributors to the Bluebird program. I will agree with you though that many kids do not have to play several years of Youth Football to be an effective High School player. However, name the last kid that started playing the sport their Freshman year and went on to be a big time stud or producer. I am very curious to know. In the end, regardless of numbers or whatever, the Birds always seem to put out an extremely good Frosh team. This year's frosh coming in were not as highly touted as past year's classes but from what I heard about the Trinity scrimmage, they were very very impressive. I dont know what they do to those kids from Dec-Aug prior to their frosh year but it must be magic. Shaun Alexander did OK for himself.

Aren't you talking about Newport? I didn't know there was a team from Ludlow not playing in the NKYFL? I know the Taylor Mill Organization plays Ludlow next Sunday..

I am pretty sure Ludlow won the Senior Division last year in the NKYFL. The Senior Division is a shell of it's self since middle school ball pretty much took over in Campbell and Kenton Co. I know a couple years ago Ludlow had a team of kids from mostly Cincinnati and they drove to games. It was absolutely crazy!! Hopefully these are legitimate kids from Ludlow.. I have no idea though..
