Boone County league does not impress me.

Northern Kentucky youth football is becoming watered down with all the teams splitting off from each other.

To clear something up Newport is having a team an have at least 100 kids signed up to date! They are part of the most prestigious league in the country POP WARNER!!! So

Newport hasn't went know where just moving to better situation which is ran by ppl without a dog in a fight! An yes NKYFL is falling apart cause the board only wants the area's that

are nice to have there cake an eat it to! Also heard a man started his own organization because of the red devils head guy being a egotistic maniac!!! Heard the guy took half there organization!

A smart HS coach or AD should be encouraging youth developmental leagues and I'd recommend using the Ft. Thomas model. It seems to be working.

I hear the same thing. Was told they held a fund raiser and raised a surprising amount of money to get a new program off the ground. I wish them the best of luck.

I just saw an ad for signups for the new Florence Huskies of the new NKY Pop Warner League.

And it sounds like there is a team in the works for the Independence area.

I know South Kenton has a bunch of kids already signed up for this season. The starters already have close to 40 kids that is more than last year.

With approx. 1 month before the season starts it may be intresting to hear how all these new teams/organizations are going to co-exist. More kids are playing soccer, fall baseball, and summer basketball, so there are fewer kids that even play football. Campbell County I guess will have 2 new organizations (ccpwfl,and newport wildcats). As far as watered down goes, and every kid getting to play goes this is great, but as far as a competive game and building good competiors it's not.

Disagree. There were plenty of non competitive football games in the NKYFL before the new organizations were formed. The fact that so many kids will get chances to play now will only help NKY football improve. The added competition from the upstart leagues will force the NKYFL and Boone county league to do a better job or they will continue to lose kids. The hyper competiveness and unwillingness of coaches to make an effort to give everyone playing time created the door for these new leagues to walk into. There will always be great teams that blow everyone out and really bad teams that don't have a chance. But kids getting an opportunity to play and learn the game is what's most important.
