Explosions rock Boston Marathon, resulting in multiple injuries

Featured Replies

Interesting point just made by one of the commentators...a terrorist would like the finish line not only for the close proximity to a large group of spectators...but, also a large quantity of media/cameras rolling that would capture (and thus, promote) the carnage.

Without a doubt. 100s of cameras would have been rolling.

I was feeling bad because I did not go over to the finish line as I had plenty of time sitting here at the airport. Not sure what kept me from going now that I think about it.

The world is full of sad people. Don't know how anyone could do this to people. Sickening really. Prayers to all victims and their loved ones.

BREAKING NEWS: Police getting multiple reports of unexploded devices around Boston

Would also make sense that it wouldn't detonate when the world class runners finished because there wouldn't be too many there. Waiting for the lesser runners would seem to cause more harm to more people.

Just unbelievable.

Is that a mailbox beside the trash can? If that was still there, shoot, someone could've walked up and put a package in there, and nobody would've been the wiser.

I'm no forensic scientist but the radius of the blue makes it seem it was placed in the mailbox.

Yeah, they said there would've also been more security people around as well...making it perhaps a little harder to bring something in unnoticed.

Yes, exactly. If you know how physics and bombs work, you should know what type of damage you should see based on where you put the bomb. If its on the outside of a metal trashcan or mailbox, you'll have some damage to it but it won't be completely blown away or destroyed. As you can see from that photo, the mailbox is in PIECES. If you put an explosive device in a closed container, the explosing will rebound off the walls and the force of the impact will be even greater and it will completely tear the container to pieces just as you see here as there are pieces scattered everywhere.
