In my mind (admittedly a simple one). The motive is irrelevant to calling acts such as these terrorism. Whatever the motive, its goal was to strike terror and cause harm.

This is true, but the reason for the distinction is that if there is a broader political motive then the "terror" extends to the future, i.e. this might happen again if X isn't resolved. Not trying to split hairs, just thought I would say why some haven't labeled it terrorism without a motive yet.

Watching CNN... They are reporting a person of interest is in custody. Up to 10 amputations now. Hospital ER's are reporting pulling ball bearings out of victims...

Now saying many people have been questioned, and none in custody... :ohbrother:

The more I think about it the more this really just ticks me off. An 8 year old boy is gone and literally thousands of people are going to be scarred for life because of this. Just horrible.

This really breaks my heart. Boston is one of my favorite places in the world. If you like sports or history you would love this town! Not only was today the day of the marathon but they also celebrated Patriots' Day today. Prayers for the folks of Boston.

Sporting events have now been changed forever.

 

I totally agree...and not just inside the event, but think about all of the people who tailgate at games, or the lines of fans leaving after a game is over. Really is a scary thought.
