I believe that is the Saudi Arabian national mentioned earlier in the thread and he has now been discounted as a suspect.

I hadn't heard, thanks
I lean towards it being a home grown terrorist. Those types of terrorists seem to like to attack around April 15th.

As to tearing the country apart, not a chance. There is no terrorist attack I can think of that could cause that. The bigger any attack is, the more the country comes together, and the more the attacker has to fear. The only entity that will be torn apart will be any group that was behind the attack if it is more than just one or two individuals.

Yeah tearing apart is too strong a statement by me...what I meant is what if this was a 2nd Amendment supporter that set off the bombs? Politically the divide would grow as those wanting gun law changes would feel vindicated and gun supporters would find themselves vilified.

On par with my line of thinking.

After watching a few videos today....I've gotten filled with a sense of rage...a feeling I didn't have yesterday.

Breaking New: Bombs were made out of Pressure Cookers packed with ball bearings and possibly nails.

This type of bomb first seen in Afghanistan according to DoD.

Along with 'Tax day' it was also:

1. African Freedom Day

2. Israel Independence Day

#2 is obviously an issue with large part of the world. #1 is interesting because we do have lots of troops in Africa right now. I know a Kentucky based guard unit doing a tour in Africa right now.

Somewhat surprized no group has claimed responsibility yet.

How the heck do you hide or sneak a pressure cooker into a crowd?

???? don't know???? Would have had to been a smaller one and not one of the big ones used for canning with quart jars.

After the way the media tends to overblow everything for ratings, I like to wait until the dust settles before judging anything, anymore. Nobody knows all the facts, at least for a couple of days.

I was flipping around the news channels last night, as I usually do when something of this magnitude happens, and came upon Al Jazeera's coverage of the event. Same as the others, lack of facts and meaningless interviews, but I did notice the ticker scrolling across the bottom of the screen. Contained in the headlines was 33 killed and 160 injured in bombings throughout Iraq yesterday.

Put things into perspective, for me anyway.

Depressed me, too. "It's here, now." is what I thought. America is no safer than any other country, now.

The headline and the actual text of what Axlerod said are the exact opposite.

"The word has taken on a different meaning since 9/11," Axelrod said of the phrase "terrorist attack."

"You use those words and it means something very specific in people's mind. And I'm sure what was going through the president's mind is -- we really don't know who did this -- it was tax day. Was it someone who was pro--you know, you just don't know. And so I think his attitude is, let's not put any inference into this, let's just make clear that we're going to get the people responsible."

He didn't say anything that hasn't already been said in this thread. In fact, he didn't go as far as some.
