Boston PD reporting 3 dead so far.

It certainly appears to be planned. Certainly appears to have been designed to instill terror through violence. Last piece of the puzzle is who did it and what their motives were.

CNN just showed a video right after the explosion and it looked like Dick Hoyt pushing his son running by.

@NewsBreaker has a photo clearly showing the sidewalk adjacent to the area with a fair amount of blood covering the area.

Explosions Reported At The Boston Marathon; Dozens Injured [updating]

One of the CBS reporters just stated that the course was inspected by police with police dogs, including bomb-sniffing dogs, and it was cleared ahead of time.

I have always feared something like this would happen at one of these large spectator type events. A lot of the time the finish line areas of races are filled with 1000s of runners, spectators, and volunteers with little oversight. A lot of police personnel are dispersed through the city.

Good lord, what in the hell is wrong with these people. A picture I saw on twitter was pretty graphic. Early reports that some have lost limbs.

 

Gets me. Who can sit around and get pleasure out of something like this?
