I really think this kid will surprise a lot of people over the next few years. He could be a settling force much like Darius was last year, in the next view years.

Don't take this wrong. I am happy for the kid and I understand his decision. However, I hope I am wrong but I do not see much pt over his four years at UK. He is in a little over his head.

Brad Stevens told Coach Feldhaus that none of the big programs got to see DH as a PG in AAU. He was always the 2 and that's why they didn't get on him.

Would you rather reach for a higher level of competition and perhaps not get as much playing time

 

OR

 

Go to the lower level school, get more playing time and wonder what if?

 

Personally, I choose the higher level without thinking twice. It is all about finding out how good you are and can become.

Exactly! And if he ends up not being happy with his role, or if he doesn't think he can ever break through. Then he could always decide to transfer eventually. I like that he wanted to challenge himself and try to compete with the best, that should only make him better. Congrats to him, and I know I hope he has a great career at UK!

Of course, there's a what if at each place. You've got the what if at the lower, but some might wonder what might they have developed into had they gone to the small school and gotten the PT. Or what might their level of enjoyment have been actually playing at a school when they were likely not going pro at either. I've often wondered if they had to do it again whether Josh Carrier and Brandon Stockton would have chosen to compete at WKU where they would have undoubtedly seen the floor more.

Lets just congratulate the kid and wish him the best!! From all accounts he is a great kid and I actually think he will get some playing time. Maybe not at first or the first year but he will be a valuable asset to UK. A fierce competitor and a hard worker that will bring it every day in practice.

I would like to hear your opinion on this gametime since you mentioned AAU. The rumor going around Richmond when Madison Central was at the state tournament is that Dominique's recruitment by big time college teams was hurt because he was not in AAU as much during the summer because he played football for Madison Central. I have no idea if this is true or not so I'm asking, is College basketball recruiting putting more emphasis on AAU compared to your high school team?

It seems HS ball in no longer as important as the sweatshop AAU circuit
