March 21, 201313 yr So happy that we landed Randle! He's going to be a great addition and looking forward to having him. I am probably not going to read through the 130+ posts, so if this has been said, please excuse me. I don't understand why non-UK fans get so uptight on social media because we are excited that we signed a big recruit today. Our season is over, most of us will still watch the tournament because we are huge UK basketball fans first and college basketball fans second. I don't understand why people worry so much more about UK and not more on their own. I have a sort of sick fetish when UK signs a top recruit or has their name in the media for something big, I immediately go to ESPN.com find the article about UK and then read as many comments as I can until the laughter overwhelms me. UK haters come out in literally the thousands just to bash and hate and I love it.
March 21, 201313 yr I can't remember anyone saying UK was going to hang #9 this year. Proof? I heard people saying Noel might be better on D but not better overall. I'm sure there may have been a couple but it certainly was not a sentiment that many shared. Agree. Before the season started most UK fans were worried about the pg position and depth, which turned out to be an accurate concern. The general consensus was a Sweet 16 was possible, but not anything more than that. Very, very few were talking of hanging a #9 banner, unless they were doing it in jest. I think where most of the non-UK folk, who are relishing in UK's just finished season, are coming up with the "Well these were all 5* freshmen so they should be as good as last's year's freshman, blah, blah, blah" comparsion, is they aren't mentioning the fact that last year's high school class had been talked about for several years about how weak it was. Probably 2/3 of that class who were tagged as a 5* (because regardless of the lack of top notch talent every class has to have their list of 5* players) wouldn't even smell 5* status in most years, such as the one just concluded. That's a lame, misleading argument imo. But if it makes the UK bashers happy for a short while let them have at it. But even they know they're wrong. They just can't pass up a chance to dig as deep as possible under the skin of Cat fans.
March 21, 201313 yr I'm thinking 18% of UK fans were saying it in November. I know UK fans who were already counting next year as #10. If a Duke fan had them in the FF, what are UK fans supposed to think?
March 21, 201313 yr If a Duke fan had them in the FF, what are UK fans supposed to think? That the Duke fan has no clue.:bag:
March 21, 201313 yr Rest easy. Tennessee upstaged UK's embarrassment. UT lost to Mercer County at home. 75-67 I think.
March 21, 201313 yr Rest easy. Tennessee upstaged UK's embarrassment. UT lost to Mercer County at home. 75-67 I think. Any school with "county" at the end of it should not be allowed to win at the college level. Ha At least UK lost on the road. Ha
March 21, 201313 yr Any school with "county" at the end of it should not be allowed to win at the college level. Ha At least UK lost on the road. Ha My bad. It's just Mercer. I get used to saying Mercer County. It's just Mercer.
March 21, 201313 yr My bad. It's just Mercer. I get used to saying Mercer County. It's just Mercer. How many did Russell Sims score? :lol2:
March 21, 201313 yr When you are comparing the seasons each had, I would much rather take Duke's. That's a very good point. :thumb:
March 21, 201313 yr You should have been. Naw, I wasn't on the court. The players should have been embarrassed and ashamed. I was just disappointed.
March 21, 201313 yr I'll say this.... when you compare the losses, you could argue which was worse. When you are comparing the seasons each had, I would much rather take Duke's. Which one would have been more disappointing though? A #2 seed in the NCAA losing to a #15 seed or losing in the NIT.
March 21, 201313 yr Here is a prediction thread I found for 2012-2013. It was way early then, but still fun to check. Wish more people had posted in it. 0 People voted for them being left out, while 2 voted for repeat and hang #9. http://bluegrasspreps.com/college-basketball/how-far-do-234362.html#.UUpAcjvh5oZ Here is my favorite prediction in that thread... I'll say at least Elite Eight to be safe but I really feel Final Four. Cal has proven that he can take a team deep into March with the talent he is pulling in. How many other coaches can win a title, replace all 5 starters and your 6th man and still be in the hunt for the title and preseason top 5 team? The game has changed and Cal has mastered it. At least Elite Eight without Bennett. With Bennett.......... What a UK homer you are ..... PP92 :lol2:
March 21, 201313 yr Which one would have been more disappointing though? A #2 seed in the NCAA losing to a #15 seed or losing in the NIT. Losing to the #15 is more disappointing....Both are equally embarrassing though IMO. At least Duke can say they made the dance, Kentucky can't do that. Both are pretty much low points for the programs over the past 5-10 years IMO.
