Taking the highlands job is a tough job. I think Feldman has a nice pool of athletes coming up and will continue to have a lot of success where he is at. It would be hard for him to leave a good situation to go to what the locals call a football first school.

I got ya. I think Coach Feldman has done very well at Brossart & hope he continues to do so. I agree that Highlands is a tough job, but no more so than any other varsity job in KY. Each school has it's own set of challenges i.e. Low student population, hard to handle parents, low talent level, outdated facilities, poor coaching, poor team chemistry and so. Or a combo of any of these issues...fact is coaching is not as easy as it seems on the surface.

How about never making it out of your district in all your years at HC.

Cole Davis-Roberts left after frosh bball. Big, athletic, left-handed, and although still figuing the the game out a little, he would have fit as a big forward or possible 5 off the bench. A role like that is easier to groom with a kid with less ball history than a guard . He went to Creen's first camp at IU with my boy a couple summers ago. The other loss was Alex Shephard (sp?). Build similar to Parker Harris. I thought he showed a lot of potential and improvement last year. He was more of a 2 growing into a 3 or 4 last year. Pretty shot, and calm nerves.

 

And I agree a program wants, and needs commitment from the kids. I know they both love soccer, but I also know they liked bball as well. And neither of the families are the types to micromanage coaches, or probably even read BGP.

 

Right or wrong, in the Birds environment the standard set by football, (and soccer I believe -- not much knowledge there), is competiitiveness AND fun. Dale is a master motivator, and because he is so darn happy, it sets a tone for asst coaches and players. I don't agree that all the enjoyment of the sport comes solely from winning. Kinda like money and happiness I suppose. It definitely helps. Drill sergeant technique will be a difficult sell in HHS bball. Toughness can still result without that. No one ever claims Birds footballers aren't knocking heads.

 

 

Ok, I know who the kid is and he would have been a project at best. Sheppard was cut this season I believe and didnt do much last season the JV team. He won $50 in the halfcourt shot though during one of the games this year. :dancingpa

Talked to Brad the year after Flynn was hired at a Highlands/Scott football game. I can remember him saying to me after I asked him why he didn't pursue the Highlands job more aggressively. He said....Not interested!!! He followed that up with, take a look around. I will eventually have the best facilities in NKY. Why would I leave Scott!

This is not a job that coaches want. This is a football school and basketball is nothing here. Yes you have a little talent, but most play football. Its hard to compete with the Football Tradition. That is just the facts. Mike Code teaches there and wants no part of it. There are many great coaches in Northern Ky, not many want this job.

There is always a coach looking for a Varsity job somewhere. There will be an ample number of applicants and it will be up to those in charge to make the best choice. I would bet that there are 10 or so that have already put in for the job since it posted on March 13.

This is a "Steer Clear" job. A lot of applicants will be applying just to get the experience of the interview process. Number of applicants means nothing. I look for a Highlands grad or someone from out of NKY.
