This is a "Steer Clear" job. A lot of applicants will be applying just to get the experience of the interview process. Number of applicants means nothing. I look for a Highlands grad or someone from out of NKY.

I agree this is a "Steer Clear" job for any applicant that just wants to sit back and count the days until retirement. Hopefully Dale will take that into account this time around.

Why a "steer clear" job? Please elaborate.

Most Basketball coaches don't want to deal with a very, very, successful football program. The fact that there are very few basketball supporters and as on this Forum a lot of basketball bashing.

It will take an insider, someone who understands the culture and a lot of patience from the administration.. Remember the most hated man in Fort Thomas is the basketball coach. A lot of young coaches have been told to steer clear. They have to question why Mike Code doesn't want it. You reap what you sow.

Simply NOT true!!! Winning changes a lot of opinions quickly. And yes if you are a young coach that doesn't want to work hard to develop this program and become one of the most "liked" coaches in Fort Thomas please do NOT apply.

Totally off base with these comments. Do you think the baseball program was having success before JB took over? Where do you get there are few basketball supporters and basketball bashing? Seems you are going on a lot of hearsay based upon what you read on here. I am with FTTS, you need a coach IN THE BUILDING that is willing to sell the program to the players, non-players, faculty, booster organization, community, etc etc.

The most hated coaches at Highlands are the ones that do not play Johnny or Suzie and the parents get upset because they have unrealistic ideas of how good there kid really is in the eyes of coaches.

Hit a nerve!!! Don't upset the Highlands posters!

Highlands hasn't won a region in baseball, give him a chance, He MAY have a good season this year. Comparing baseball and basketball is apples to oranges. Basketball is a grueling sport and season. Baseball NOT!

Once again Why wouldn't Mike Code want

this job?

No not at all. Just another misinformed poster. It appears you have some close relationship to Mike, so why don't you tell us why he does not want the job? Did he apply for the job last time? Are you sure there is not some other reason that he is not attempting to get the job? Was he not on the staff when John Messmer was the coach? What has changed from now to then?

IMO Mike Code has the best of both worlds right now. He is being paid a public school salary and coaching at a school where football is not and will not be an issue during his tenure there. Seems like a pretty logical reason to me, don't you think?

Just what I said. He doesn't want to deal with football. Why should anyone else?

This isn't an issue with the right coach in place IMO or at least shouldn't be.

Hey Guru,

Do you have any relatives that may be interested in the job???????

young, smart,experienced head coaching ,friendly,Ft. Thomas connected,enthusiastic.

I bet you do!

Because there are some that would be willing to put in the time and energy to get it done. This is not a new problem at HHS is it?

For those that think that football is the reason for the downturn in basketball at HHS, take a look at these names and tell me what they have in common.

Dan Sullivan

Fred Terry

Jeff Kremer

Rich Maile

Rick Lankheit

Steve Beagle

Kevin Hergott

Scott Draud

Mike Schuett

Deron Blasingame

Derek Smith

Jared Lorenzen

Another tidbit to consider is that HHS won the state championship in football in 1981, 1982, 1989, 1992, 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2000
