March 9, 201313 yr The time period prior to the funeral when friends can come and pay their respects to the departed's family. Around Northern Kentucky it seems like a lot of people refer to it as "visitation". However, in Eastern Kentucky, I've heard it referred to as "the layout". While where I grew up, it seemed like everyone said it was "calling hours". Not saying anyone is more appropriate than the other (sort of like the pop/soda/soft drink debate)...but what's it called around your neck of the woods?
March 9, 201313 yr Here in the Estill County Area (Richmond, Stanton, Winchester, Campton) it's known as the Visitation/Viewing..Usually lasts from 6-9 PM
