How about the fight that broke out where players were bumping referees and no flags were thrown.

 

The refs really embarrassed themselves there.

 

The Raven that threw a hammaker in the first Qtr right in front of the ref as well with no flag was a joke.

 

Only thing worse than the blatant game of no calls was the coverage. Steve Tasker and Solomon "Giant Hands " Wilcotts need to go. Get soñé hot chicks to report on the sidelines.

I'd like to see a replay of the INT Kapernick threw. I want to see if Moss could have possibly touched the ball with any effort. He gave none. Maybe it was simply untouchable.

 

If he would've made any effort for it at all, then Reed may have been forced to make a play on him, rather than just sit back on the pass. Vintage Moss, I hope this is what he's remembered by !

In lieu of the holding penalty on the saftey, I wouldn't be surprised to see a rule change. Much like a defensive penalty at the end of half/game when they have a 10 second run-off, they should add 10 seconds.

Herm Edwards had some good points on Mike and Mike this morning about the no calls, specifically the 4th down. He basically said that that was how football used to be played before there so many rules put in place to aid the offense. And in the Super Bowl you have to make the plays to win the game, not win it on a call from the officials.

 

I tend to agree with him.

I agree that the hold should have been called on the last 49ers play but to be fair there was another non call early in the game that probably cost Baltimore a TD, certainly a score. Not sure if the refs were told to loosen things up or not but it certainly appeared that way.

The Niners just dug too deep of a hole when they allowed the kickoff return at the start of the second half. It was amazing that they were able to even have a chance at the end after that.

 

I think the refs were terrible. One Raven shoved a ref in the first half and nothing was called. That was the most obvious hold in the history of football near the end. I have to agree that the coaches told them to blatantly hold. It reminded me of an intentional foul at the end of a basketball game. That had to be a penalty for defensive holding on Crabtree in the end zone too. To be fair, they missed a holding call the other way earlier in the game, as well.

 

I'm a huge 49ers fan so obviously I'm disappointed with the outcome. Ended up being a great game and I enjoyed some Corona Lights, though.

Same amount of time would have ran off of the clock. They would not have stopped the clock as soon as they saw the penalty. They would have let the play finish and then enforce.

I thought it was brilliant when I saw it. By holding during that time, they can buy more time for the kicker to run around, and if they call the hold, so what? It's a safety anyway!

The way I understand it the players are coached to hold in that situation. Wished for the refs at the Miami/tOSU game could have been there for that play. Also, glad the replacement refs were not in there... or were they... oh, nevermind.

 

The referee calls, or no-calls is a double-edged sword. You like for them to swallow their whistles in these type games, but not at the expense of compromising the product. One could argue that happened. For instance the David Akers call I believe would have normally been a 15 yarder. Talk about a huge call that no person is discussing.

For the stats San Fransisco put up, you would think they would have won the game going away. Kudos to the Ravens for capitalizing on 49ers miscues. Twitter was hilarious last night with respect to Ray Lewis.

I doubt we will see them change the rule to add time back. Last year the Giants had 12 men on the field on a play at the end of the game. The Pats gained 5 yards but lost several seconds. The rules committee didn't change it after that...I doubt they will now.

Something does not feel right about it. Maybe in both situations time should be added. They remove time via the 10 second runoff rules inside however many minutes it is to play.

 

I will also say San Fransisco, despite being held, should have been more prepared for that. They maybe could have save another second or two and give themselves a shot at a Hail Mary. I was rooting for the bad punt and free-kick scenario.

I know if the holding call was called it most probably wouldn't of changed the outcome of the game etc. But what aggravates me is when penalties are not called period. If there is a rule against something then enforce it period.

 

I hate the philosphy of officials who take it upon themselves to dictate when a penalty is called and when one isn't.

My thoughts on the game. Very good game, Light issue really helped swing the MO for 49ers it was getting ready to be bad for them. 49ers to me acted like punks everytime one of them got hit or missed a play they got up and ran their mouth or tried to start a shoving match. Ravens did not back down and did this some as well, but 49ers let it get to them more. As for the non calls, they were both sides, the refs let the DB and WR's play very physical game at those positions and I think it gave an edge to Ravens, Boldin is gonna win those battles. I thought Older brother out coached younger brother, and it showed on the goal line stand, Kapernick did not do well with edge pressure all night and thats how they stopped them and held them to FG several times, GO RAVENS!

Mannnn, that ball was way too high. If Moss could have caught it it would have been Breaking News on twitter and Phil Summs would have had a heart attack attacking Randy Moss for his lack of effort for 14 years and how he continually lets every team he has played on down. Seriously, do you really think if he could have caught the ball ANYONE in the media would have given him a pass?
