In reading this thread, and with what little I know about the situation, that was my thought as well.

Sometimes I wonder if the "more highly qualified" individuals would touch this job because of poor facility. Lets face it, BC has the worst field in NKY any more. Granted, there is a ton of history but it is a dirt or mud hole by week 6. I suppose if you want to be a head coach of a school that has traditionally underachieved, this is a great opportunity.

An unfortunate factor in this decision will have to be job availability. Even big schools like Boone have a hard time finding teaching positions. It not like in the past where a school or superintendent can just create positions for coaches. I have heard they are actually cutting a teacher in each department next year. Makes it hard to bring in a coach from outside. You can hire a para-professional but most head coaches would prefer to be in the building as most administrators would prefer them in the building(see Ryle). To be honest a lot of interest like in the Brossart job is becasue the people want/need a teaching position. You can weed a lot of them out very quickly. I think Kyle N. will have a leg up since he is in the building already and has always done a great job for them. I agree with the Guru they could be scary good if someone adds the other type of offense to their arsenal. Lots of good, young, athletic talent in the pipeline.

Brossart didnt have a teaching position available and job was advertised that it didn't.

Still doesn't keep people from applying. "Look at me. I'm a great coach. You will surely have to hire me as a teacher." It was good of Brossart to be up front about it and say there is no teacher job. Districts have there hands tied like never before when it comes to hiring.
