I don't know, but I'm not sure it matters. Boone has the personnel to run Matteoli's offense and it would be devastating at the High School level. 15 seconds max between snaps. You have two plays called every down, one running, one passing. QB makes the read at the line. NKy has never seen anything like it. It would be a new standard of offense. Defenses would wilt by the 4th quarter. If not hired as head coach, he would have to get serious consideration as OC.

My son played for Bill on an All Star team that went to Louisville Rumble on the River. Nick Woodward coached that team. Casey Boston was on that team. Will Ludwig was on that team. He loved playing for Bill.

Yep, then I do know you. My son played on those teams to, Will and My boy were the QB;s that would play every other possesion at the QB position and on the possesions he didn't play QB he would play receiver or RB with Casey.

Nick and Levar were Bill's assistants on those teams.

Bill doesn't always play the hurry up, don't misunderstand his offense. He does have aa great no huddle scheme though and uses it when he needs to. He wasn't a throw hhappy offense either but more of a very balanced offense. Actually 2 of the SB's he won was with great RB's, Taylor Centers 1 year and Jaylon Beal the other SB's. 2 very different running styles, Taylor was a bruiser who would just run over defenders between the tackles and Jaylon was more of a speed back who would run outside and beat you with speed.

 

Bill was very good at designing his offense around the strengths he had on the team.

 

I think he'd be perfect for Boone. As far as his experience at the Varsity level, I do believe he's been an assistant in the past at the Varsity level, I could be mistaken but I do believe he's coached at that level already.

In regards to the bolded, though, I don't know a coach worth his salt at the high school level who gets caught up in the "political" stuff. I know it's a popular thing to say, often time amongst parents, but because it's easier to say "Coach so and so is playing so and so just because of his daddy" is a lot easier than facing the realization that their little Johnny just isn't good enough...yet.

Very true. The reason I said what I said is for years my boy has played on Bill's teams along with Bill's son and Bill never once showed any sort of favoritism toward his son, he actually more times than not has started kids in front of his boy because he always plays the best no matter who they are. He's a great Coach and I'd love for him to get a HS Varsity Head Coaching job somewhere. As I said before and people may get tired of hearing it, but it's true....Bill wins no matter what level he coaches. He also has a knack at getting the most out of his players.

There are some coaches that can just coach no matter what sport they are coaching, it's in their blood and Bill is one of those guys. Like I said earlier, he also coached Softball and brought home a State Championship for Ryle doing that also. He was born to coach.

If Boone hires from within I think Coach Niederman is the only choice.

 

However, and this is no knock on Niederman, I think Boone needs to hire someone with a proven track record as an offensive football coach that additionally has experience developing multiple QBs.

It iwill be interesting to see if the powers that be are ready to step "outside the box and their comfort zone". If the Brossart job can generate interest from candidates from Minnesota to Florida surely there should be some very strong candidates nationwide for this job. My assumption will be that the same ole montra will continue and it'll be a local hire. Nothing against that I suppose as I'm sure whomever is at the helm will do ok but it would be good to see them get someone from outside the area with different ideas and no ties. The school is too big with too many athletes for them not to be a "consistent team in the mix" every year.

As I said, he's coached for a long long time and has Varsity level experience, not HC, but assistant level. With that said, there are some pee wee coaches out there that could do a better job than some Varsity level coaches.....just saying.
