Very sad for the local boys of NKY. Maybe the NKY enquirer could choose an all state team of their own?

I just say, stick to what you know. I have a hard time ranking teams much less players without ever seeing them play.

When I saw the listings in CJ paper I almost first looked for McCoy. Figured I had to have missed the entry. Was highly dissapointed to that specific oversight.

 

It certainly seems NKY was passed over. Given the number of slots you expect more players named.

 

Congrats to those named. All deserving.

Johnson Central should never have lost a game, much less three.

So 2 nky teams win state, another is in the finals and another in the semis. And this is the representation we get???

 

 

I guess it's the system these kids play in and the wonderful coaching they get. Has nothing to do with the vast amount of talented kids that work their tails off for these moments.

 

It's not about fans being upset, it's about the kids from this area that got NO recognition for dominating the state, (except for a few teams). We nky fans may go at each other during the season, but the one thing that all us nky fans can rally behind is that this list is an absolute JOKE!...for all our schools!

 

Well this couldn't be more well put. Funny how NKY players make 1st, 2nd and HM on "somebody's" list the don't even appear on others. You'd think voters are living in a different State altogether. These list are worth about as much as the paper they are written on and that's no disrespect to to players that made it.

Until someone comes up with a legitimate way to more accurately create these teams this will always be somebody's popularity contest.

I find it laughable at some of the reasons as to "why he's on the team". Stuff like "he's a good tackler, a good leader, played well despite being injured" with no statistical information further proves my point that this is a joke. Hell every team has a player or two with those creditials, lmao!!

 

I've seen pee wee leagues methodology for selecting their post-season awards done better. No since complaining, it is what it is even if it is worthless.

I have lost all hope that any poll that will come out will be an honest opinion of who the best players really are. Most lists I have seen recently are simply a representation of the agenda that the voting group has.

 

It is a shame that in statewidevoting it may be a slap to the N Ky region, or that in a more local polling it may be an opportunity to get back at a particular coach/school.

 

It's supposed to be about the kids.

The 2012 C-J All-State team is an obvioius product of block voting from coaches in the far western and far eastern areas of the state. It is in no way a representation of the best or most successful players in the state. Highlands, Bowling Green, and St. X are three of the elite teams in the state and COMBINED for one player on the first three teams. The indvidual schools had more than one on those first three teams included South Floyd, Johnson Central, Belfry, Mayfield, Christian County, Graves County, Paducah Tilghman, and Caldwell County. There will always be flaws to selecting any All-State team but the lack of participation by some media outlets for the AP and the block voting by regional coaches for the CJ tend to make these teams less of a real representation than they should be. Congrats to all of the outstanding players recognized and for many of those left out, enjoy your championship rings.

Boohoo someone from Northern Kentucky didn't get something.....waaaa Highlands didn't get what they want. You do realize that other people play football right? You realize that most if Eastern, Southern and far Western Kentucky don't have a vote in the AP pole. How you feel right now is how we feel every year with the AP.

So you honestly think, that a team like JC had eight better players than what the entire area of NKy had with two state champions, one state runner-up, and one team who gave HHS their only game (twice) all year long?

 

Another serious question! Did you happen to attend the JC vs. CovCath game at JC that CovCath won by a score of 45-15? Did you notice who had the better team, the better players? Yet CovCath had zero members and JC had eight and it makes sense to you?

No it doesnt make sense to me. I don't think any team has 8 all state players on it. It also doesn't make much sense either on the AP poll that you can hardly ever get a player on the squad unless you are from a metro area. This team is decided by coaches. Maybe you should talk to your head coach about getting your players names out there to other coaches. My point is the schools in the rural areas work hard to put their kids on this all state team because we hardly ever make the AP.

Well there are over 200 schools that play football so you do the math.
