And so now we are back to the old " Bush did it too, so it's OK " excuse... Doesn't usually take long... So this means if Obama repeats the bad things Bush did, like spend over budget, spend too much on vacations,lie to the public etc. Hey, that's OK cause Bush did it too. Why not be a leader and change some things??

I think the point (in this thread, anyway) is that President Bush spent three years out of eight on vacation (and I think most of us agree that there is no such thing as a TRUE vacation for a sitting POTUS); and to the best of my recollection, things weren't always a bed of roses during those eight years. Yet we have folks hammering President Obama for taking a three week hiatus. Double standard?

So you agree it's OK because Bush did it too?? And this is not Obama's first extravagant vacation.. He has taken more than several... Heck, last year alone Mrs. Obama spent over 10 million for vacations just for herself and the kids...

I agree it's okay. Not because President Bush did it, and did it, and did it. But because everyone needs some time off. Heck, I could go so far as to say that had President Bush have taken 7 years off instead of just 3, we might be in a better place. But I won't, because I'm above that sort of thing.

For full disclosure-

President Bush spent most if not all Christmas' at the White House so his staff and secret service could spend the holiday with their family.

 

477 of W's "Vacation Days" were weekends at Camp David. President Obama doesn't go to Camp David as much I would assume because he enjoys playing golf on Sunday mornings in DC...nothing wrong with that.

Did you even read the post on this thread that listed the vacation days taken by Presidents in the last 30+ years? No one took less time off than Carter but I doubt that helped his stature in your eyes.
