I can't believe the lack of Christmas spirit from some in this thread. Everyone likes going home for the Holidays, granted most have a cheaper destination than Kenya but stop being scrooge's.

Just replace the word conservative with the word liberal and Obamas name with Bush and the post pretty much sums up why the country is struggling.. Each side can't find much common ground.

Using this board as an example...the only time I see common ground is when the resident liberals agree with the conservatives. You hardly ever see the conservatives on this board dare agree with anything the liberals say.

Even when Osama bin Laden was finally captured and caught the conservatives cried bloody hell because Obama 'took credit' for the capture and kill. It wasn't Obama. It was the Seals. How dare he.....

However, I think there are a lot of moderates out here as well that don't disagree with all of the so-called liberal platform...ie. improvements in healthcare, pro-choice, health and welfare safety nets, etc., environmental initiatives...however, the disagreements are usually about how to achieve the goals, and in my case, the current administration's leanings towards BIG government, heading towards socialism, is too scary to consider. In a red/blue world I guess I would be considered conservative (red), but there are a lot of issues I believe we would agree on.

I don't think I am a true liberal but I do think I get labeled as one. There are things from both sides that I agree with but I think my defense of the Obama administration and agreeing with most of the stuff they do garners me the liberal label.

I think we need new category and sterotype terminology as the old ones are getting tired. :sssh: I was just reading another website that used the term social conservatives, and that is where I know I and many would separate from the single definition of conservative. The context in this case is that in Texas, social conservatives were being blamed for reducing funds for family planning clinics. And...I just think that is stupid! (reducing the funds that is)
