November 30, 201213 yr As we channel Thelma and Louise and a deadline approaches, he jumps out of the car. He is entitled to a vacation, no problem. Not right now or not for three weeks ! At a time when this country needs strong and compromising leadership, he should not be body surfing and golfing. Take the vacation in January, February, ... I believe this is just posturing and optics anyway. He may personally sacrifice his vacation for half of that time.
November 30, 201213 yr Unless the POTUS is disconnecting his phone and not working on issues then I don't really care how long he is out of the White House. The POTUS is NEVER on a true vacation. I wish he would...
November 30, 201213 yr President Reagan had an "R" beside his name. And Obama has a D. This same complaint has been used against every president since I can remember. Those complaining/justifying just change sides with the change in power.
November 30, 201213 yr As others have said, no president every really gets a day off. The only thing wrong with this is the perception that he's not going to be in touch during the key moments leading up to the deadline. Obviously that is not true. It's also possible he believes the crises will be averted before he leaves.
November 30, 201213 yr I know my situation pales in comparison but even as union president I am on call 24 hours a day. If little old PP92 is on call for 24 hours a day for 141 bucks a month(after taxes) for 242 people then I know that President Obama is on call 36 hours a day for hundreds of millions of people. I can't wait to be sitting on the beach sunbathing(yes, I sunbathe with the best of them) with 4 Yuenglings in me at noon and get the phone call about someone who wasn't given the correct opportunity to work overtime. :irked::ohbrother::madman::lol:

November 30, 201213 yr It's a Christmas holiday. Who deserves to enjoy it more than our Lord and Savior? (add appropriate smiley here)

November 30, 201213 yr I'll do my part, if the President ends up in Huntington, WV with a toothache whilst vacationing, and needs a root canal, the charge will be 1.2million dollars.

You are in the midst of contract negotiations with Corning. If the current contract expires in a month and you don't sign a new deal, then your union members' wages roll back to their 2008 wages. You say, "I'll be at the beach for three weeks with a full supply of Yuengling, call me if you need me". Past Union presidents have taken vacations, you work hard for yours, you've got a cell phone. How would your constituency respond? Edited November 30, 201213 yr by banana slug
November 30, 201213 yr Where is he going? Hawaii? Doing some 'cliff diving' in the Pacific? Always a fan of topical humor.
November 30, 201213 yr I don't have a problem with the POTUS taking vacations because we all know, at least most of us know, the POTUS is never on vacation. The issue is the appearance. If it is about to hit the fan like we are lead to believe he needs to wait.
