NO!! Last friday it was NewCath 34 - Beechwood 14. Since NewCath moved up to 2A in 2007 the Breds have won 4 of the 6 meetings, only losing in 2010 40-39 2OT & 2011 29-20.

Just like on the flip side, when schools like Boyle and Highlands have a distinct advantage by having a LARGER feeder system of the middle schools and youth leagues that feed to them solely. While Bigger enrollment schools in Lexington are forced to divvy up the middle schools amongst each other. Again, size still matters.

Our feeder system is a slingle little youth league in a city of 17,000 residents. I WISH we had what those Lexington schools have!

In a related note, the 64th(I believe) Toy Bowl will be played this weekend. That's 64 years of Catholic elementary football, complete with a championship.

As I understand it, Dixie is barely a 6A and probably should be 5A.

 

Just joined in on this topic. I heard this weekend, that Lousville MALE is moving to 4A nexted year. has anybody else heard this rumor. Heard it from a couple young guys that played freshman football at MALE.

I did wear my hat out again on Sunday.

My understanding is that the Lexington area middle schools feed into multiple High Schools. This makes it very difficult for the High School programs to engage with those programs. Before Ryle and Cooper started their programs, this is the way it worked in Boone County as well. Up until about three years ago, there was almost no engagement of the High Schools with the middle school programs at all.

Male is 6A by enrollment. They can't move down. Male has more students than Dixie Heights.
