Thank you. What the cat is implying is that his kids are magically better from Ft Thomas then anywhere else.....he is saying that his 100 kids from Ft Thomas are better then 1400 kids to pick from elsewhere. Lol.

No worries. Actually it was for PP92, was confused on the shortened version of his name. The discussion is foolish. All things being equal, regardless of proximity, it would be beneficial to be able to pull from a larger group. Size obviously matters. Just like on the flip side, when schools like Boyle and Highlands have a distinct advantage by having a LARGER feeder system of the middle schools and youth leagues that feed to them solely. While Bigger enrollment schools in Lexington are forced to divvy up the middle schools amongst each other. Again, size still matters.

I call that good conversation. A foolish discussion would have no replies.

So size can be (and often is) the deciding factor when both teams have the other things (coaching, commitment, tradition and support) in place. When a smaller school has those things but the bigger school does not, the smaller school can (and often does) prevail.

 

So would the better sentence be....... Enrollment size is not the determining factor in a team's success but it is a factor.

Which school wins? Are they on an even playing field?

 

2 more schools. Team 1 is a school with 300 boys and every student lives in town within 5 miles of school. Team 2 is a school with 300 boys and 150 of them live within 5 miles of school, but 150 of them live from 10-20 miles from school. Which school wins? Are they on an even playing field?

Those are good questions, but those debates would be in a different thread. Such as, Does distance an athlete lives from the school matter? or Does the amount of reduced lunch students matter? Etc.

Shoot, I just want someone to explain to me how middle of the road 4A Mercer County gave large 6A school(ranked in 6A top 10 at one point) Madison Central all they wanted.
