When you guys drink Scotch do you drink it straight, on the rocks, mix it with something?

There is something about the peat moss smoky after-effect that sits on the back of my throat and clears the sinus. It warms me faster than bourbon, and also really de-stresses faster. For instance, right after the Chargers lose to the Saints. I cannot say that I necessarily like it, or drink it more, than bourbon, a martini, or even Bushmill's Irish Whiskey, but over the last 5-7 years I have had it in the cabinet and it just seems to be the go-to drink. Perhaps I will change in the future.

I generally drink two fingers on the rocks.

Mrs. Hearsay just called me a liar and says I haven't been a 2x/week Scotch drinker for well over a year. She says maybe 1x/2 weeks, and more martinis this year, so what the heck do I know. She also said we're out of Glenlivet and gave the Isle of Jura away long ago, so this night just keeps getting darker.

Tried Scotch many years ago and never really liked it, maybe it wasn't good Scotch...I dunno. Bourbon on the other hand was always a good friend of mine, somtimes too good of a friend. I no longer drink (personal decision not AA...lol) but if I did I would like to try a really good Scotch to see if I had missed out on something.

Used to drink a lot of scotch. Got out of the habit in recent years. More bourbon now than anything. I like most of the single malts, but on a daily basis, Pinch was my go to scotch.

So how much do I have to spend for a halfway decent 750 ml bottle? Price could be a deal breaker for this experiment.

$40 - $60, Glenfiddich and Glenlivet 12 yr old are in that.

A couple of friends have tried to get me into it before, but I've only had it on special occasions. I've always taken it neat.

I have a lot of friends back home that love it. I try it every now and then, and just have not acquired a taste for it. It's too smokey, and acrid taste that I just can't get my head around. I'll stick with Bourbon in the winter, and Vodka in the summer.
