CBDV Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Discovered that I like Scotch this summer. Started with Glenlivet and Glenfiddich 12 year old. Anyone else a Scotch drinker?
Hearsay Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 About 2x/week, more if I'm in trial. Liquid decompression. Probably not a great habit, but it works. I have both of those in the cabinet, and currently a bottle of Glenmorangie and some Isle of Jura I have not opened.
theguru Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I have never had Scotch. What is the allure? How does Scotch compare to good Bourbons?
sportsfan41 Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I have never had Scotch. What is the allure? How does Scotch compare to good Bourbons? I'm with you Ru, never had Scotch. Same here, only time I can remember having Scotch was wayyyyy back in the day when I tried to sneak some from dads cabinet. I wasn't impressed but I didn't like bourbon then either and now it's all I drink.
formerkywrestler Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I have it on occasion. But every time I want to add a bottle to the cabinet I end up finding a bourbon I need.
formerkywrestler Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I have never had Scotch. What is the allure? How does Scotch compare to good Bourbons? Quite different. Has almost a "smoky" taste. It's been a very long time since I've been there, but an Irish restaurant/bar located at the Levee had a decent selection.
RockPride Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I love Scotch......Dewar's 12 for everyday.....McCallan 18 when my father is in town.
CBDV Posted October 7, 2012 Author Posted October 7, 2012 To me a Single Malt is smoother than a Bourbon, easier to drink?
Run To State Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 I love Bourbon but not a Scotch fan.Same here. I've tried Scotch several times, never cared for it. Love a good Bourbon.

Jim Schue Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I used to drink Scotch a lot back in the day, but moved away from it in recent years -- living in Bardstown may have had something to do with it. But I did have some back in the summer at my cousin's wedding (the Bourbon choice was Jim Beam) and enjoyed several Glenlivets.
Mack The Knife Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Single malt is the only way to go. The Glenlivet is my favorite.
