Anyone know when the presale starts and what are the office times at Highlands?

 

I was at the school this morning and was told probably Wednesday.

Maybe.

 

Since 1995, the Birds have only lost one game at Cov. Cath (playoff game in 2006). However, during that same span Cov. Cath has won 3 (mud bowl, 2001, 2006) at Highlands.

 

The Birds almost have to have a better winning percentage at Cov. Cath than they do at Highlands when the teams play.

 

Count me in as those who think that home field isn't that important (particullarly in the era of turf). However, I could certainly be swayed.

 

Not when the teams are 10 miles apart. It only becomes a factor when significant (anything that causes your team to get out of a normal Friday routine) travel comes into play.

Just out of curiosity...any kind of show of hands for who will be there on Friday? Anyone interested in a "hi, how are ya" with some fellow BGPers before the game, at halftime, or something along those lines?

Birds better not be cocky...CovCath has the weapons this year. To coin a phrase: "Fear the Bir". I saw a lot of routes that were wide open but passes were dropped or poorly thrown by Bird opponents this year. That won't happen against CovCath. But I have the ultimate faith in Coach Weinrich's D and know Coach Dill will come up with schemes to get pressure. And the comment previously made about Highlands' TE was so TRUE! (pun intended!) With that said my prediction...HHS 27 - CovCath 24.

As long as I haven't had anything major placed on my calendar unbeknownst to me by my betrothed, I'll be there. Fo sho.

Game will come down to offensive efficiency. I suspect a tennis match sort of game. If they win the toss, HHS will take the ball (i.e., serve 1st). Any break of serve (i.e., not scoring at all) or mini-break (i.e., FG instead of TD) will be critical. Turnovers will play a role because that will constitute a break of serve. This fact will be heightened if HHS runs the ball because the # of possessions will be reduced by the clock continuing to run.

 

Look for McCoy to have a big night -- with his legs as much as his arm -- because if CCH drops into shell coverage, he has to be accounted for.

 

How many players go both ways for CCH? Any DBs? So far this year, the opponent DBs have gotten pretty worn down chasing WRs all the way down the field and then hustling back to the line of scrimmage only to chase another WR (fresh from the sidelines) another 40 yards down the field. Lather, rinse, repeat.

 

Go Birds. Beat CovCath.

So the year after you graduated (1968) would have been the first year the two played. (HHS 14 Cov Cath 0) Does that sound right?

 

Highlands won 14 to Cov. Cath. 0 in 1968. Cov. Cath. beat Highlands 35 to 6 in 1969, for those that were having that discussion.

I think it's 3-2 Birds at HHS.

Bottom line on this game, we will find out how good Cov Cath's defense truly is in this one. The Birds running game versus the CCH D is the matchup of the night.

 

I agree, but would like to add, if the Birds D doesn't get pressure on Bir , it could be a long night for the home team.
