Random thoughts:

 

I will be curious to see what each teams breaks out that they haven't shown yet.

 

If I'm CCH I'm concerned about my lack of a running game. Can they win with only passing?

 

If I'm HHS I'm concerned about the D being tested through the air.

 

Will HHS come anywhere near 44 pass attempts or was that just to get Dave Wirth worry about something else?

 

What personell changes will we see?

My brother lives very close to HHS. I think I am going to have to go to his place for dinner then stop in at the game.

haha 6 years ago. Since then (at Highlands):

 

40-0 Highlands

36-7 Highlands

27-20 Highlands

49-14 Highlands

But then again he helped make some little birdies from the class of 07 at HHS very, very unhappy and not just once but twice and he not them, won a state title that year.

 

Sure HHS has won many since and prior to that but in 2006 for the HHS class of 2007 they went home empty and you nor any HHS fan can take that away from Thrillville Cardinal51, no matter how hard you try, or down play it! He wears a state championship ring!

This is going to be an exciting game, but what it really boils down to is who will host the (likely) re-match in November.

I will be rooting hard for the Colonels as always, but also respect the talent & tradition that Highlands carries.

Anyone that thinks that the history between these teams and home field for this game doesn't mean anything is mistaken.

The Colonel players and coaches know what Highlands has done over the years, and I would guess numerically it is worth 7 to 10 points before stepping on the field.

I will add that this game will be won as much by coaching decisions as it will be by the players.

Coach Mueller has a whole bunch of history on his side, but Coach Wirth is showing that he can get it done.

May both teams come out injury free, and with Cov Cath hosting the playoff game ;-)

The two teams have faced each other twice in a season on 14 occasions. Highlands has won both games eight times and Cov Cath has won them both three times. They split the games in three of the seasons.

Yes, pre-sale tix are available. I think they will start selling them on Monday, Tuesday at the latest. HHS fully expects a sellout. Sold out last yr.

BF CovCath started playing varsity Football in the fall of 1967 and we went 5-4-1. My class the class of 1968 was the 1st graduating class to play football at CovCath however HHS and CovCath didn't play that year.

 

Judge Bill Wehr, Bob and Jim Wieck, Larry Erpenbeck and former CovCath Principal Steve MacCathery were the seniors on that team along with myself. Former head coach at Cincinnati St. Xavier Steve Rasso was our head coach and we played our games at Holmes High School.

 

Bob Wieck became the 1st of many CovCath football players to play College football as in his Sophomore year (NCAA rules of the day didn't allow Freshmen to play) Bob played for Brown University!

If you graduated in '68, you would have played your senior year in 1967. So the year after you graduated (1968) would have been the first year the two played. (HHS 14 Cov Cath 0) Does that sound right?

There must be a mistake somehwere in your records or ours. I have a record of the 1968 game (HHS 14 Cov Cath 0) and every game thereafter.
