This game answers a lot of early questions: How good Highlands is, how good Boyle is and how good Scott County is.

It would be interesting to hear from him how he thought he was outcoached.

Awww boo-hoo. Some coaches yell and some calmly coach. When are we going to stop babying todays players? You think coaches don't use these tactics in college? At the NAIA/D3 level. It only gets worse the further along you play. Football is a tough game played by tough people, coached by tough minded people.

 

Wow, not what I was expecting. So the coaches are suposed to do that? Really, then why do they call unsportsmanlike penalties on players that talk trash while on the field?So it's not ok for players to do that, but, it's ok for coaches do that to players?

 

As far as boo hoo, I really don't come from a football family, and don't know any real tough guys, but I do read alot. I'm glad you told me football was a tough game, made for tough people, I guess I haven't come to that chapter in my book yet.

Personally, I don't have any problem with the way Jim McKee coaches. Every coach has their own style, which I respect. I see where it upsets parents, players, etc., but when you've tell a kid something over and over, it's probably not going to come out as nice as the first time he told you. He could coach my son tomorrow if he likes. I'd be pleased to know that he would be disciplined and held accountable.

 

I think comparing Dale and Jim's coaching styles is apples to oranges. They're both successful and both handle kids in a different way. I think both prepare their boys to be good men when they leave their respective programs, and both are probably proud of that. Bottom line: the better team won on Friday night. Highlands was the aggressor and will be tough to beat. Best of luck to both teams.

Because Highlands was very un-impressive against Boyle County until Boyle got tired and Scott County has to be better than Boyle County, right?

 

The only wildcard was that I had not seen Scott County and apparently they are way down from last year.

 

I don't think so Ru. Boyle County and maybe Lex. Cath. are really the only bright spots in Central KY Football. Look at what Ryle did to Henry Clay. It shocking to me that schools of that size can't field better teams. Imagine if Scott County meets Trinity in the finals again.

I think we also have to add maybe Boyle wasn't all that tired in the second half last week and maybe Highlands woke up in the second half against Boyle. In other words, the first half against Boyle may be misleading in Highlands small body of work this year and if the two teams played again its possible it would be a rout and if so then Scott County figures to slot about where the did.

 

What is tough about all of this is until all the teams play four games or so there is not enough reliable information to accurately predict a lot of games.

Dale Muller never ceases to amaze me. I'm shocked more coaches don't adopt his philosophy, including NCAA Division 1 Coaches. I don't know what the guy reads in his leisure, but I would bet that the

This is an antiquated way of thinking that rarely works in any facet of life. I can tell you that chronic yellers and screamers are tuned out by most players. Coaches that walk up to players and explain to them why what they did was wrong and how to correct it, resonates a lot more with players.

Have you ever watched what a little league coach coaching 3rd base does when the batter swings at a ball 10 feet over his head? Generally, the coach with his arm well above is head demonstrates to the kid what just happened, jumps up and down at yells, “the ball was 10 feet over your head, what are ya doing swinging at that?” I would love to see just one time, some kid other than my own respond, “Yea, no duh, coach.”

I talked to a coach with a reputation for screaming and yelling at his kids causing parents to get mad. He said during the season he spends more time with their kids than they do. He knows what each kid can and can't do and he treats them as such. If he's not yelling at you then that means he expects little from you and there's no point in yelling at you. If he is yelling at you then he expects better. When you are a parent and you tell your kid over and over and over and over to take out the trash and he never does at what point will you yell or raise your voice at him to take out the trash? Or do you still speak softly to him despite his repeated failure to take out the trash? This coach also said people may see the yelling but they aren't allowed in the locker room when the apology and the discussion takes place as to why there was yelling. People see what they want to see. I don't know Coach McKee personally. Never met the guy but I have heard good things about him. I don't know what he said to the kid or if he apologized at some point. It's none of my business. As it is none of yours. You guys won the game. Congratulations. We have work to do. You guys take care of your crappy PA system and don't worry about our coaches. We are headed in the right direction regardless of how you feel about our coaches "humiliating" the kids.

I wasn't there so I don't know exactly went down, but each person learns in a different way.

The kid got humiliated by the coach in front of 1500 fans, you weren't there so you should have no comment.

 

Here is what happened, and yes I was there and saw it. The LB'r missed an open field tackle on #23 for HHS, nobody would have made that tackle, and I mean nobody. The kid from Highlands made a juke move around the 20 yard line, cut it back and ran in for a TD. The RB from Highlands makes everybody miss tackles, he is great. I'm sure that this kid from SC, wasn't the only SC player that missed a tackle, the score would indicate that as well. I think the coach was frustrated and took it out on one player,and lost his cool.
