If you are a freshman football player at Penn State why on earth would you stay?

I personally think so, or at least equivalent. I have a hard time believing that many athletes will stick around at Penn State with no hope of a bowl game in the entirety of the time they are there. And that's just a blow that is added to the already significant factor of playing for a team with the stigma that Penn State now carries.

I did like one part I heard. Im pretty sure they said football players could transfer without penalty, OR stay at Penn State and still receive their grants, even if they didn't play football.

I would not accept that penalty if I were Penn State. I don't know what they can do but if there is anything I could do to fight back (appeal, lawsuit, etc.), I would do it if I were Penn State.

Penn State signing "consent decree" is NCAA-speak. What it means is that PSU was fully on board. These are basically self-imposed penalties.

I believe Emmert said it was a violation of Bylaw 10.1. How can they sue or appeal if they broke a Bylaw?

I heard they signed off on accepting the findings of the Freeh report but I had not heard they signed off on the sanctions. I will assume you are right. There must be such overwhelming evidence in the Freeh Report that PSU felt they deserved whatever they got. Did they not try to defend themselves at all in this process?
