Dixie and SK weren't on Scott's schedule last year either. Now that Scott is 5a and went to a new district, there wasn't room on the schedule for SK and Dixie especially with Dixie moving to 6a. It would be nice for all the Schools to play, but really Dixie and SK most years will be too much for Scott to handle. Of course is more of those Edgewood kids that are in Scott's district that choose instead to go to Dixie would stay in District.........

Why in the world would a kid that lives in Edgewood want to go to Scott when Dixie is much more convenient geographically.

Scott has athletic kids walking the hallways, they just aren't playing football.

This is true to a certain extent. Scott's enrollment keeps dropping though. From what I hear, there will be less than 1000 kids at Scott this year, one of the smallest enrollments ever. There aren't a bunch of difference makers roaming the halls. Yes there a few decent athletes that have chosen to play just one sport and not play football, but not as many as you think. The good news is football numbers are getting better. The Eagles NKYFL team will help, and Woodland will get a pretty good boost from a bunch of 7th graders which could be the deepest class ever for Scott. As more and more young kids play football early, numbers should continue to get better.

Lots of teams deal with bad facilities and continue to win, I'm not buying that as an excuse for Campbel simply not being what people thought he was going to be.

I just think Coach Campbell handled the transition very well and kept the team intact. He has been building this young team and grooming them along. If the payoff is that the team has the first winning record this year in 22 years, I would have to say that it is a positive thing for the program.

No dog in this fight, and I certainly don't want to turn this into a districting debate. But, I agree with the first post, I never understood why portions of Edgewood were declared to be Scott's "district". Why wouldn't those kids just opt for Dixie?

 

If Scott's enrollment is dropping below 1,000 while Simon Kenton's is creeping toward 1,800 I think the district needs to look at changing their philosphy.

 

The whole thing in Kenton County baffles me a little bit. I know families who have elementary age kids that literally bus past one school to attend another??? How's that happen?

Just to weigh in on Campbell. I thought he did a great job with what he had to work with, and may have been the most underrated (or unknown) coach in NKY during his tenure.

Coach Campbell will still be actively involved with the program. Woodland is on the same campus as Scott. From what I have heard, he will be helping on game nights from the booth.

That makes what, 3 ex-Georgetown teammates as head coaches in NKY?

People would be shocked to see what Highlands has to work with when it comes to facilities..They are definately some of the worst in NKy...I think they do ok..

But it's still not much! Their weight room and training facility...I would bet you is in the top 10 WORST in the state. But I bet their weight training program is near, if not the top in the state! They just replaced a gym floor (thanks to booster donations that was over 50-60 years old. Their vasity bball gym is not at big as most middle schools anymore. They play softball down in a valley where the football team practices. Imagine what condition that field is in. They have no onsite facility for baseball, swimming, track, soccer, tennis and probably others that I'm forgetting. Everyone thinks Highlands spoiled and everything is state of the art. Well it's the exact opposite. However, they somehow find ways to put together the best football program in the state and remain ultra competitive with all the top schools in other sports. As well as one of the best educations in the country! It's not the facilities that make things good, it's the attitude and preparation.

Congratulations Coach Woolley and best of luck. For whatever reason Scott is a tough place to win.
