I saw an 80 inch Sharp at Best Buy today. $4500. It was love at first sight.

Saw a Sony that size and it was fantastic. I'm in the market for a new TV as well. I'm by no means TV poor, but the mancave needs an upgrade before the NFL season kicks off.

The Panasonic TC-PVT50 series is the best TV you can buy right now, period.

 

It is on par the the Pioneer KURO's of 7-8 years ago, which is the reference of flat panels. It is expensive though.

 

I am a plasma guy, they offer the best color and black reproduction and are far better for fast moving sports.

 

 

Panasonic TC-PST50 is a great choice and is more affordable.

 

IF I was buying a TV today I would buy one of those 2 or a Sharp Elite PRO-X5FD LED.

As a guy who sells tvs I would agree with those others. Sony and Samsung is the way to go. Vizio is owned by Sony so your fine there as well. Your gonna want to go 1080p of course and your 120 Hz is nice as well. I myself have a 42 LG that I have not had a problem with in the year I've had it. In all honesty its your opinion when buying. What ever you like go with it, but you wont find better quality tvs than Samsung.

Is there really that much difference in a 120 hz and or a 60 hz in a 32 inch and or 35 inch

 

It really depends on who's looking. From experience working with computer monitors, I've found that I cannot see things other people can. Monitors that looked perfectly fine to me, with a 60 Hz refresh rate, would be shadowy to others and I'd have to increase the refresh rate of the video card to clear it for the person using the monitor.

We needed a secondary TV for our basement for my boys and their friends to both watch TV and it get's more use for their XBOX and PS3's. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so we bought a floor model Mitsubisi 73" DLP technology for $999.00 at HH Gregg. It also has 3D thought the glasses and emitter was seperate. They deliver it and it doesn't power on so I call the manager and he gives me a brand new one for the same price which is a tremendous deal. I know it's not Plasma or LED but for a 73" DLP it has a tremendous picture for $999.00. It is amazing how much the prices have fallen on TV's. I believe I paid $3500-$4000 for my baby (Sony 60" DLP model) 6 or 7 years ago. I'm on my 6th bulb but it still has a great picture. I had a warranty that included the first 2 bulb replacements. The first one I had to pay for $229.00. I always have a backup bulb on standby. The last bulb I just bought on eBay was $38.00!! Amazing how much the prices have dropped.

Might as well get a project screen if you are going to spend 4 or 5 grand. Take it up to about 100 inches.

I don't think that is true. According to wiki they are privately held with AmTran Tech owning a minority % of the company.

I feel so far behind the times, my tv was manufactured in 1987.

Vizio is their own company...They were in a patent lawsuit with Sony but it got settled, other than Vizio's TV's being a fraction of the cost of Sony's and similar in quality they don't have anything to do with Sony...

Just for a fall back plan...but sometimes TV's are not as expensive to have repaired as one would think.

When my Toshiba went down I purchased a Samsung 55" LED and the picture quality is mind blowing. It's amazing how quickly prices drop on these things so choose wisely.
