May 14, 201214 yr This is a made-for-TV event, correct? I'm guessing the appeal of Kentucky/Georgetown is more national (thus better for ESPN) than Kentucky/Cincinnati, whose appeal is likely more regional.
May 14, 201214 yr UK vs. UC would have been awesome for Greater Cincy and would have been a lot of fun for my friends and I. But let's be honest, playing Georgetown in DC is much better for Kentucky IMO.

May 14, 201214 yr How good will Georgetown be next year? Doesn't look like Andy Katz (or anyone else for that matter) has them ranked in their Top 25 preseason rankings. In fact, it looks like Cats doesn't have them in his Top 40...but he did have UC.
May 14, 201214 yr I was going to be disapointed in anything other than Cuse' and UC, and I'm wanting to say Syracuse is on the road this year so that wouldn't have been possible anyway. Few good matchups left on the board for Kentucky, but UC was definitely the one I wanted to see.

On KSR yesterday, Ryan Lemond stated that this would be the first matchup between the two programs since UK's illustrious 1984 Final Four performance.
May 15, 201214 yr It's only the third meeting between the two teams. Besides 1984, they met in 1922. UK lost both games.
