Looks like Wiltjer had a good game. 8 pts in 11 minutes, 3/4 shooting (including 2/3 3-pointers), 3 blocks.

Solid performance.

So it can be inferred that when Wiltjer has a good game, the Cats are in trouble? :p

Can someone tell me if we was going to jack up 3's, why wasn't Wiltjer in the game and who ranked Teague coming out of school.....

What did we learn?

They can't afford to take their foot off the gas. They got up 6, got comfortable, and proceeded to run clock (leading to late clock 3 point attempts) until they lost the game.

They might get away with it against a team that isn't starting 4 seniors that all have a grudge though.

Side note: How big did that blown charge call on MKG end up being? It was a terrible call, cost UK 2 points, and set the stage for MKG playing extremely limited minutes.

Basically all those things happened. I don't know if it was 16-0 back then, but they lost one regular season game, won every SEC game, lost to Vandy in the SEC title game, then won the tourney.

No, they lost 1 regular season game, went 14-0 in the SEC regular season, lost the SEC tournament championship to Vandy and won the NCAA tournament.

Actually UK lost to Mississippi State in the SEC Championship game. While the above facts are true, to me the biggest difference is that the 1996 team's loses were to Umass and Miss St. both of which would join the Wildcats in the final four. I don't see any way that IU and Vandy will be there this year. Another difference, let's hope that unlike 1996 it's Calipari's team that wins it all.

We're referring to 1951, not 1996.

Sorry I completly missed that.

Huge call & a horrible one, as most block/charges seem to be. Still, UK not being able to throw one in the ocean in the last 8 minutes did them in.

I thought the same thing.

I totally agree. Not the reason they lost in the end, but could have dramatically changed the game.

UK's guards back to invisible.

It was against two very average to poor defensive guards as well, UK did not take advantage when they had Vandy in matchup problems. To me, that goes back to your point guard, who really played poorly today, both offensively and defensively. He along with several other Cat players seemed to be leg weary, which can be attributed to the UK's lack of depth. Jones, Miller and Wiltjer were the only Cats who played well at all today.

I think you, Roman Empire and UKMF put the jinx on UK when you guys were so over-confident in the Coach Cal to the Nets thread. Didn't you say this when I asked if UK winning the SEC Tourney was a foregone conclusion:

Yes and I actually have them winning by 12 now. If you think the team we watched this past week was the same as 3-4 weeks ago then you're kidding yourself, doesn't change my prediction. It's time.

Luckily Jones, Miller have been there before and perhaps it will give the others the heads up that Wiltjer is ready to play if they aren't and push them a bit.

Kentucky looked like a tired, unmotivated team to me. They resorted to jacking up 3-pointers rather than attacking the rim, didn't work hard for 50/50 balls and couldn't hit shots in the final 8 minutes.

Calipari says they weren't tired, but that looked like a tired team to me.
