Ram
Class 2A Mayfield and Somerset each made statement wins. The Cardinals put away a stout 3A Paducah Tilghman and now get their second rival in as many weeks when 6A McCracken County rolls into town. Somerset put any doubt if they were legit or not to rest by unloading on Beechwood in a game never in jeopardy. Beechwood is staring down a rough stretch and will hope to get the ship upright against Corbin. Lexington Christian Academy got a tough challenge up in the Queen City but prevailed and now look to add a 6A win to their resume. Keep an eye on Newport. The Wildcats take Danville's spot, following an Admiral loss to Boyle County, after romping Carroll County and should keep their flawless record going this week. 1. Mayfield vs. 6A McCracken County 2. Somerset -- OPEN 3. Lexington Christian Academy vs. 6A Madison Central at Madison Southern 4. Beechwood vs. 4A #5 Corbin 5. Murray at 3A Union County 6. Owensboro Catholic at South Spencer (IN) 7. Caldwell County at 1A #8 Crittenden County 8. Breathitt County vs. 3A Estill County 9. Lloyd Memorial at 5A Conner (9/14) 10. Newport vs. 1A Bracken County
Voice of Reason
Mayfield has the three best wins in this class. Despite Somerset's big winning margin over Beechwood, I still am not sure how close they are to Mayfield. It is pretty clear at this point that this class is a two team race. A lot can happen over the next 8-10 weeks, but the other teams have a lot of ground to make up on Mayfield and Somerset.
The sarge
Walton keeps under the radar with a good win over 5A North Lauriel. Young Bearcats are showing signs of picking it up. Good test this week NCC this week.
DRKARK
Lloyd Memorial put up a big win against 5A Boone. I am not sure how many yards Boone had in this game but The Juggernauts really appeared to control the line of scrimmage.
MR.NKY
This is disrespectful to the young Bearcats of Walton Verona. They should be a 10 team in 2A and they will prove it this week.
ATLCat
This is disrespectful to the young Bearcats of Walton Verona. They should be a 10 team in 2A and they will prove it this week. Lloyd Memorial is #9 and they defeated W-V by 24 points. W-V's wins are against Holy Cross by 17 (CHC then turned around and lost 42-6 to Scott), and 1-2 North Laurel by a point. North Laurel finished 4-6 and missed the playoffs last year. Walton-Verona is still in that 11-15 range after dropping out of the Top 10 when Lloyd handled them. To say it is "disrespectful" is definitely a stretch. At this point Walton-Verona has yet to post a Top 10 caliber result. If they can go toe to toe or beat NewCath I am sure the votes will come. Voice of Reason
Where is a good place to find stats on the football games? KHSAA.org >click on scoreboard>2019 football> search for team When the team schedule loads, there will be a blue hyperlink to the right of the game score that will provide that team's stats. If you want the other team's stats for the same game, you will have to go back and click on that team. Then click on the link next to the score on their team schedule page. Also, if you go to the KHSAA football page, then click regular season, there will be a hyperlink to the stats leaders in each class and in the state. There is also a link right under "Roster" entitled "Latest Game Stats Report Summary" which gives totals for the entire season.
