Final

Really great, back and forth game tonight in Olive Hill. The Comets got it done in crunch time.

Russell played well after the loss of Jared Goodman in the 3rd quarter with a left knee injury. It sounded like Russell had a chance to win it but Brady Bell lost the ball on the missed free throw after he had the rebound at the end.

If Russell could figure out how to consistently close games out, they could easily have 15 or 16 wins this season. They've been in position to win on numerous occasions and couldn't seal the deal. There's a tough three game stretch left before districts. It would be really good for the psyche of this team if they could win two of them.

Sounds as if he may miss a lot of next season as well.

That's really unfortunate for both Jared and the team. He's been playing his best ball in the last few games. There isn't any one thing about his game that jumps out at you, but he can give you a little of everything. I like to think of him as Russell's "glue guy".

Sounds like he's got a long road ahead of him. I don't know him personally, but he strikes me as a young man who will meet this challenge head-on.
