Conner 2018/2019

Recommended Posts

Conner has 3 starters returning this year. Between the 3 they averaged about 26 points per game. Projected starting line up; Ginn, Marcum, Hicks, Scott, and Osterbur.

Jared Hicks (junior) is a high motor player. He will primarily handle the ball and be asked to guard bigger opponents. If Jared plays under controls and looks to drive and kick Conner has shooters who can knock down the 3.

Jalen Scott (junior) played significant minutes and I believe will score 12-16 points a game. Jalen has been working hard over the summer and has improved his game playing high level AAU.

Brenden Ginn (senior) will asked to pick up where he left off last year. Ginn gained needed confidence last year and had multiple games scoring 20+. Ginn can shoot from the outside, probably has one of the best mid range games in the region, and can drive to the basket. Ginn worked on strength and speed this summer and has improved in both areas.

Players stepping up this year:

Nick Marcum (senior). Athletic player. Nick will be asked to play the opposing bigs, though not overly strong he battles for each possession.

Riley Osterbur (sophomore) athletic guard with good strength and quickness. Played in multiple varsity games last year. Has improved outside shooting and is fearless when driving to the rim.

Cole Skiles (sophomore) will be asked to rebound and protect the rim. Very good passer and has old school post moves.

Spencer Couzins (sophomore) had a good summer. If his feet are set consider the basket good. Is a knock down 3 point shooter. If Spencer continues his on the court growth could be starting by the end of the year.

Nolan Schneider (junior) is a good role player. Has a good pull up jumper and will be asked to play defense and handle the ball.

Conner will surprise some teams this year. Teams with bigs will give them problems. My opinion is they need to play faster than they did last year, look to drive and kick out for the 3. Young players will play major minutes. Look for the following four sophomores to start JV and sit Varsity; Luke Couzins, Ayden Saffell, Chase Cody, and Ethan Ginn.

The 33rd district will be interesting this year. This might be the year Coach Otte gets into the regions. Conner should have a nice run the next few years, look for the sophomore class to get a lot of Varsity experience which will help them improve and grow.
