Mother nature won out this week, canceling all of the Friday and Saturday games in the region, including the All-A regional games. Weather permitting, those games will be played early this week. But with snow in the forecast to start the week, a lot of these Monday and Tuesday games are now in doubt.

 

1.Owensboro Red Devils (13-4) – SAME – The Devils got the week off with the snow. On the season OHS has 3 players averaging double figures. Cory Gardner at 17ppg, Deonte Douglas 12ppg and Lance Lewis at 11ppg. They host Grayson on Tuesday before traveling to Daviess County on Friday.

 

2.Daviess County Panthers (12-6) – SAME – On Tuesday night, Daviess traveled to Breck County and played maybe their best game of the season. The Panthers knocked off the Tigers 99-84. Blake Boswell and Dakota Walden each had 24 in the win. DC put 6 players in double figures. On Friday, the Panthers host Owensboro in a big 9th district showdown. With a win, Daviess County would move to 4-0 in regular season play and all but lock up the #1 seed in the district.

 

3.Owensboro Catholic Aces (10-6) - SAME – The Aces picked up 2 wins this week over Whitesville Trinity. On Monday they got a 70-32 win. Bailey Ballard had 14 while JD Marshall chipped in 13. On Thursday, the Aces advanced in the All-A with a 63-38 win. Ballard again led the Aces with 13. Weather permitting, the Aces will continue All-A play Monday vs Hancock Co before getting back to district action, hosting Apollo on Friday.

 

4.Meade County Greenwave (9-4) – SAME – Back on Tuesday night, the Waves blew out the Hornets 91-65. Aiden Matthews stayed red hot, with his 4th straight double double. He scored 32 and pulled 11 board. Chesney Weick added 18. They host N Hardin before traveling to Hancock for a rematch with the Hornets.

 

5.Muhlenberg County Mustangs (8-9) – UP 1 – The Mustangs lone game of the week was a victory at Mclean on Tuesday. The Stangs won 71-59. Nolan Davis knocked down 7 3'sto finish with 28. Noffsinger added 22. Berg is at Logan on Tuesday before hosting Ohio County on Friday. A win would nail down the #1 seed and a bye into the 3rd region tourney for the Mustangs.

 

6.Apollo Eagles (5-9) – DOWN 1 – Apollo was off this week. The Eagles have 3 players in double figures through 14 games. Nathan Boyle has a 15ppg agerage, while Hayden Shelton and Alex Gray are both at 13ppg. They host Breck County on Tuesday and travel to the Sportscenter to take on Owensboro Catholic on Friday.

 

7.Breckenridge County Tigers (10-5) – SAME – The Tigers suffered a 99-84 setback to Daviess County on Tuesday. Kobe Poole went off for 49 points but didnt get a ton of help. The Tigers travel to Apollo on Tuesday.

 

8.Ohio County Eagles (8-7) – SAME - On Tuesday, Ohio County knocked of Grayson 43-34. Trey Lewis led the Eagles with 10. They host Barren County on Tuesday before traveling to Muhlenberg on Friday for a big 10th district game.

 

9.Whitesville Trinity Raiders (11-10) - SAME - Trinity suffered a couple of lopsided setbacks to Owensboro Catholic this past week., 70-32 & 63-38. Cameron Wright posted 14 & 15 in the losses. They are eliminated from the All-A but still have a game this week at Edmonson.

 

10.Hancock County Hornets (9-7) – SAME –The Hornets saw their 4 game winning streak come to an end on Tuesday in Brandenburg. Meade Coutny defeated Hancock 91-65. Jaxon Gray had 25 in defeat. The Hornets are scheduled to take on Catholic in the All-A on Monday, weather permitting. On Friday they host a rematch with the Greenwave.

 

11.Grayson County Cougars (7-10) – SAME – The Cougars suffered a 43-34 in Ohio County on Tuesday. Shartzer had 11 in defeat. - The Cougars make a tough trip to Owensboro on Tuesday before returning to 12th district play, hosting Butler County on Friday.

 

12.Butler County Bears (6-8) – UP 1 – The Bears took the week off this week. On the season, they put 4 kids in double figures, with Will Moore leading the way at 19ppg. They host Allen County on Tuesday before traveling to Grayson on Friday.

 

13.Edmonson County Wildcats (4-14) – UP 1 – The Cats knocked off Mclean to open All-A play, 70-67 in overtime. They take on Cloverport in the semi finals. On Friday, they host Trinity.

 

14.Mclean County Cougars (5-10) – DOWN 2 – Host Mclean County dropped a heartbreaker on Thursday in the opening round of the All-A. It took overtime, but the Cougars came up just short, 70-67. The Cougars have games against Webster and McCraken this week.

 

15.Cloverport Aces (2-13) – SAME – The Aces dropped a game to Hopkins Central, 75-24. They take on Edmsonson in the All-A on Monday before traveling to Dawson Springs.

 

GAMES TO WATCH THIS WEEK

All-A Tournament - The Catholic Aces are the overwhelming favorite to win it, but Hancock and Edmonson will challenge them if the weather holds out.

Tuesday - Breck County at Apollo - 2 teams that have been up and down this season, both looking to get something going in the right direction in the 2nd half of the season.

Friday - District seeding - Owensboro vs Daviess County - If the Panthers win, it looks like they could be the #1 seed. If the Devils win, we could be heading for a coin flip. Ohio Co at Muhlenberg Co - if the Stangs win, they will lock up the #1 seed and a district bye, putting them directly into the region tourney.
