article Calloway County Senior Haley Glynn wins Centennial Logo Contest

Calloway County senior Haley Glynn was chosen as the winner of the Kentucky high school basketball centennial logo contest, as chosen by the Centennial Committee, a collaborative effort between the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches, Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame and the KHSAA. The winning logo will be used for promotional purposes during the yearlong centennial celebration of Kentucky’s original high school championship by the KHSAA, KHSBHF and the KABC, beginning with the 2017 KHSAA/Whitaker Bank Boys’ Sweet 16® and culminating with the 2018 boys’ basketball tournament.

Glynn will receive a cash prize of $250 for her winning design, which was selected from a pool of 81 entries during the two-month submission period. A standout track and field athlete since the eighth grade, Glynn has won four KHSAA regional championships while also qualifying for nationals as a member of the Kentucky Elite club team. As a freshman in 2014, Glynn helped Murray High School win the 4×100 relay at the KHSAA 1A State Meet. As a junior at Calloway County, Glynn placed third in the triple jump at the 2016 KHSAA 2A State Meet.

An accomplished student-athlete, Glynn holds a 4.0 grade point average and is actively involved in several school and church organizations. She has been a member in the Hardin Baptist Youth Group for six years, and has taken two mission trips to Arizona and Nicaragua helping poverty stricken adults and children. In addition, Glynn has also been an active member of Future Business Leaders of America, the Calloway County HS student council and Leadership Tomorrow – a hand-selected group that focuses on developing leadership skills by networking with the community of Murray. Though undecided on a college at this point, Glynn plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in architecture.

“I have a passion for design and that’s why I entered this contest,” said Glynn. “I plan on using my passion for design on completing my degree in architecture.”

Tickets to the 2017 KHSAA/Whitaker Bank Boys’ Sweet 16® will go on sale to the general public in February, with more information available at KHSAA.org.
