I do not understand what Isler's offers have to do with any of this. He was offered a scholarship from Xavier, of that I'm sure but I don't know specifics. Smith was signed based on potential, and has the frame to be a good pitcher eventually and that's great! At this point, he is not a top 50 player. In NKY there are a few pitchers that are better than him, Isler being one and I'd throw Roenker, and even Nutini in there. We have two weeks until the season begins, where we'll get to see all these kids in action!

Deja vu. Feels like you or someone else has made this argument over and over. I think everyone agrees when Pittman REALLY wants to, he is a monster. Unfortunately he doesn't always come to play for whole games at a time. The whole team needs to pick it up on offense, not just him, but right now I agree he'd probably get eaten up by a D1 defender.

To be honest, this was a dreadfully painful came to watch until a minute left in it. Holmes offense just doesn't produce. Yes, Boone played great defense, that's not question. But with the talent Holmes has, they should have scored more than 32 points. Passing/dribbling around the perimeter won't get it done down state. I thought Ricardo Johnson played well and Pittman, when he actually PLAYS, is a force. The problem is, this team has not improved throughout the year..and I feel like their trip might be a short one. They need to pick it up. Keep up the defense, but need a better game plan on offense. Hats off to Boone. You all played well and had the chance to take it, and it just didn't fall your way. Nothing to hang your heads about. To the kid [#24] who missed the layup, you played a great game, and it happens to the best! Good luck to Holmes down state, and I hope you all can bring a championship home to the 9th.

Timmerman SHOULD be the starter, as Erpenbeck just isn't strong enough. But Timmerman kind of reminds me of Pat Van Sant, which means he probably will be utilized elsewhere where he is needed more. Erpenbeck started last year one game because Isler was injured, and Young had been having troubles. The right guy was the QB for CovCath the past two years, and if Erpenbeck had been THAT good, I think he probably would have been given the opportunity. He just wasn't, so let's not get ahead of ourselves referring to him as a mini brett favre. lol.

I will be arriving around 8:15, after I get off work and have yet to purchase tickets. Is it worth me going or should I just head home?

Yeah that makes sense. Smith signed with Murray early this year, which is why he was automatically thrown into the mix. Well, if nothing else, this is a good list to see what players are signed to play ball. I just don't feel it has the most accurate top 50 players.

I'd have to agree. If Boone can get into Pittman/Rice's head, then it could be a different outcome than the Holmes win that should and hopefully will happen. I'm hoping R. Johnson leads his team on the floor, along with Riley and that Holmes takes this one convincingly.

I think it's great your son plays all 3! Good luck to him! I think it's a shame that some kids only play one sport due to parental or coaches influence because they need to "improve their skills in their best sport" or whatnot in order to progress to the college level. I know of plenty of kids who have played all three or at least two major sports in HS and moved on to college just fine! I would hope/think that Schlarman will come back for at least another year due to having what is more than likely the 2nd best team in the area next year. But he apparently will have a young one at home and it will be hard to devote so much time to basketball when your heart is somewhere else...regardless, good luck to him in whatever he chooses and I don't think his leaving would have anything to do with football.

Much better schedule than the past two years. The past two years were brutal schedules. This one seems like it's a much more doable schedule. That said, this will be a rebuilding year for them. It will be rough but in the long term I think Wirth is what the program needs and wish CovCath would have had him two years ago. Go Colonels!

Well deserved. Nice kid, and a nice ball player who really is the leader of his team. Couldn't have picked a better winner.

I'd have to agree, they will be a solid team, but I don't see them doing much damage unless Connor is on the mound. CovCath beat them twice in the regular season convincingly, and then in the game that mattered Connor had a great night and CovCath had an average at best night. Hats off to NCC for taking advantage of it, but aside from Connor I just don't see them doing that well..

lol, oh my. To be honest, and maybe it is because of the very situation you're exploiting in that post, but he didn't impress me all that much. No doubt he is Holy Cross's best option though. Holy Cross is playing some stiff competition that first week wow!

Thank you, you probably stated it better than I could. I believe Murray looked at Smiths size and realized that he has potential to be a really good pitcher one day.

lol, I know they didn't call it in that game. Thats why I said Beechwood shouldn't complain about uncalled "fouls" if there were any. But after hearing the free throw stat, Beechwood has only Beechwood to blame, not the refs anyways.

That always irked me. The student support for football season at CovCath was just pathetic this year, and basketball was much better, I think in large part to the football players making an effort to make it out to games, despite the dismal season. From what I heard the football players showed up because they knew how bad it felt when there was no one there for them, on their senior day, or their playoff game etc..

Because they are the better team. Right one=better team. They also have a legit shot at knocking off Holmes [although personally I don't want it to happen]. We've all seen Beechwood can't hang with Holmes, and Boone is the better of the two teams. And if one of Boone's players got hurt, they have plenty to step up. Beechwood pretty much is Romes and Beautell. I was not there, I don't know if Romes was getting fouled or not, but for a fan of Beechwood to complain about the officiating seems a bit off, because Beechwood got away with ALOT everytime I saw them.

I believe Smith is going to Murray State, but yeah he is a good pitcher. But not the best up here in NKY, which makes me scratch my head at how some of these players were picked. I'm just excited for the season to begin!

Honestly, forearm shoving and pushing under the basket isn't something a Beechwood fan should be complaining about anyways, because they did plenty of it in the games I saw them play. Beautell and Romes pushed off every chance they got, even blatantly at one point in the CovCath game last week. Poor officiating or not, I think Boone winning this is the best outcome and the right one, as I feel they are the better team. They have a legit chance at making it to Rupp. IMO Holmes is the only team from the 9th that will make it through Rupp. Good season for the Beechwood seniors!

I think Boone will win this by 4. But I think it's very possible Highlands could upset.

And I think Thelen from CovCath, while maybe not one of the best in the state at this point, will be in the next two years. He has a lot to work on, but has a ton of upside.
